Topic: Does 1+1=3? Proving the Integration Hypothesis

Today’s world is rapidly becoming more inter-connected and complex. As an evidence-based organization, FHI 360 is exploring the hypothesis that integrated global development has the potential to exponentially increase our impact, while providing better and more cost-effective program delivery to empower people to build their own healthy, productive communities.

Patrick Fine, CEO, together with Tricia Petruney, Technical Advisor, will discuss whyFHI 360 is launching a global and local dialogue about integrated development. They will also share some practical ideas for opportunities and next steps.

SPEAKERS:

Patrick Fine, Chief Executive Officer of FHI 360, brings 35 years of international development experience along with a deep conviction in the power of people to work together to solve complex human development challenges. Patrick has had a long career in international development, and his areas of expertise include integrated development, education, private sector and livelihoods, donor coordination, community development, public-private partnerships, and working in conflict and post-conflict settings. Before joining FHI 360, Patrick served as the Vice President for Compact Operations at the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), and as Senior Vice President of theGlobal Learning Group atthe Academy for Educational Development (AED). Previously, as a member of the Senior Foreign Service at USAID, Patrickwas the Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator in the Africa Bureau and Mission Director in Afghanistan, where he led the rapid expansion of U.S. assistance for reconstruction and development.

Tricia Petruneyis a Technical Advisor for Global Health, Population, and Nutrition at FHI 360. She has been a member of the Research Utilization team since 2007, where she is responsible for improving the effective use of evidence within policy and program decision-making for global health and development. Within these efforts her technical focus is on strengthening the linkages between interventions in multiple development sectors, such as family planning and other key programs within health (e.g., HIV/AIDS) and within other sector settings (e.g., environment, microfinance, agriculture). Prior to joining FHI 360, she worked as the Program Coordinator for the East African Center for the Empowerment of Women and Childrenin rural areas; she currently sits on the Advisory Board of Directors for this organization. Ms. Petruney received her Master’s of Arts degree in International Affairs and Socioeconomic Development from the New School University.
