Year 1 Workplan and Budget
FFC members were unanimous in their support for the GEF OFMP project that officially ended in 2010. Members were also highly supportive of the Secretariat’s efforts to develop a follow-on program.
Although it has taken time to develop, the GEF PIOFMP2 is set to provide significant and useful resources to FFA and SPC to assist members in capacity building in the implementation of regional and international agreements and measures, building upon the previous project to reinforce Pacific Island involvement in developing those instruments.
OFMP2 will be jointly implemented by FAO and UNDP and executed by FFA and SPC, with additional resources intended for related work by PNAO, TVM, MSG, PITIA and WWF Pacific.
The total project budget is US$ 10 million over four years, running from mid-2015 to mid-2019, a Project Manager has just been appointed, and the main requirement now is for project executing partners to be familiarised with the administrative requirements and for FFA member beneficiary governments to sign the final project document.
The Year 1 Budget and Workplan, together with the OFMP2 project document were presented on October 25th 2014 at the OFMP2 Project Appraisal Meeting in Honiara, and discussed and approved by FFA member countries, anticipating project commencement in October 2014.
That expectation was not realised however, and a draft year 1 budget and indicative workplan is attached, now anticipating full commencement on July 1st 2015.FFA members.
