Book Report Project: Movie Campaign Mr. Post
For this project, you will create an advertising campaign for the movie adaptation of your book (note: this project is not recommended if a movie has already been made from your novel). You will be responsible for assembling a cast for the movie, designing a poster to advertise the movie, and writing radio ads for the movie. In addition, you will need to write a summary of the novel you have read.
Requirements
1. A 200+ word plot summary of your novel (30 points)
2. The cast credits of your movie for at least five characters. The full cast can be placed in the credits at the bottom of your poster or written up on a separate page. The main star or stars should be included on your poster. (20 points)
3. A written explanation for why you have chosen these actors to play the parts you’ve selected for them. (20 points)
4. A poster to advertise your movie. The poster should not copy or resemble the cover of your novel. The poster could use a scene from the novel, or simply provide an eye catching image related to the novel. It can be hand-drawn or collaged from photos or drawings. It should include the title of your movie/novel, the movie’s release date, the movie’s stars, and anything else you think to include. The poster does not have to be the typical 3 feet by 2 feet size of a movie poster, but should at least be larger than a sheet of computer paper. Grading of the poster will be somewhat subjective, but can be summarized as follows (80 points):
Great=80 pts Good=70 pts “Okay”=60 pts Underwhelming=52 pts
5. Write a short radio ad advertising your movie (see separate sheet). Reading the ad aloud should take approximately thirty seconds. The ad can include sounds and dialogue from your novel, a description of the plot, mention of the cast, the opening day of the movie, and/or mention of theaters where the movie is playing. (30 points)
6. Neatness, effort, and creativity of poster design will count towards the final grade. (20 points)
7. Grammar, spelling and punctuation will also count towards your final grade. (20 points)
