WSU Regents approve making Pullman campus tobacco-free - December 1st, 2015

Smoking and other nicotine use will no longer be permitted within the perimeter of Washington State University’s Pullman campus as a result of action taken by the WSU Board of Regents this morning.
The regents approved adoption of WAC chapter 504-38, establishing the Pullman campus as tobacco and nicotine free and requiring that those products be secured, extinguished and/or disposed of prior to entering WSU Pullman property or exiting private vehicles on the Pullman campus. The change will go into effect the fall of 2016.

Due to the power outages caused by high winds overnight, WSU Pullman classes and non-essential services have been suspended this morning (Wednesday, Nov 18) until 1:00pm. HR, Payroll, Finance- Modernization Initiative. July 23 & 24

WSU is continuing to build an understanding of our HR, Payroll, and Finance needs as part of the early assessment and planning phase of the business modernization initiative which we began last fall. As part of that on-going effort, on July 23, 2015 and July 24, 2015, WSU will host a demonstration of the HR and Payroll software currently being implemented at the University of Washington. This demonstration will provide much needed opportunity for employees, system wide, to see an example of a modern HR/Payroll system, and how a new system could help WSU modernization and become more effective and efficient in the way we support the growing academic and research enterprise.The demonstration will be available on video conference for all other WSU campus locations.All interested employees are encouraged to attend.

President Floyd has authorized a salary increase

President Floyd has authorized a salary increase effective January 1, 2015. Faculty will be awarded a salary increase in accordance with the faculty manual. Instructors and graduate assistants will receive a 4% across-the-board increase and administrative professional (AP) employees will receive a 3% across-the-board increase.

Tobacco Free Survey

Spring 2014 WSU Pullman Undergraduate Students passed Referendum 43-01 in support of a Tobacco Free Campus. WSU administrators are polling Pullman employees via the Pullman Tobacco Free Survey to measure their opinion on the idea of Pullman becoming a Tobacco Free Campus. Step M Information

As part of the 2013-2015 operating budget, the Office of the State Human Resource Director implemented a new pay step, step M, within the State’s pay range system for Civil Service employees. Step M is a longevity step to be added to the state salary schedules. Eligible employees who have been at the top step (step L) in the same salary range for six years will move to the new step M effective July 1, 2013. It provides an approximate 2.5 percent increase over step L.

Faculty Appointments - Full-Time Academic Workload

Starting in 2014, under the Federal Affordable Care Act, Washington State University (WSU) must report actual work effort for all employees, including Faculty. Therefore, effective July 1, 2013, WSU will require faculty appointments be set up as full-time equivalency (FTE).
