Anticipating Next Sunday

God’s Anointed One has the power to give life or take it depending on our response to Him!

How does this text enlarge your hope in the supremacy of Christ?1. Pray: “Holy SpiritPlease, open my eyes to see wonderful things in this text.” 2. Write your thoughts and thanks. 3. Joyfully share your thoughts with someone else.

What are the implications for the way we live if Jesus Christ is God’s Anointed One?

Psalm 2:1–12 (NIV84)

1 Why do the nations conspireand the peoples plot in vain?

2 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against His Anointed One.

3 “Let us break Their chains,” they say, “and throw off Their fetters.”

4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.

5 Then He rebukes them in His anger and terrifies them in His wrath, saying, 6 “I have installed My Kingon Zion, My holy hill.”

7 I will proclaim the decree of the Lord: He said to me, “You are My Son; today I have become Your Father.

8 Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance, the ends of the earth Your possession.

9 You will rule them with an iron scepter; You will dash them to pieces like pottery.”

10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.

11 Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling.

12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for His wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.

O God You are my God And I will ever praise You.

O God You are my God And I will ever praise You.

I will seek You in the morning And learn to walk in Your ways

And step by step You’ll lead me And I will follow You all of my days; And I will follow You all of my days
And I will follow You all of my days

And step by step You’ll lead me,
And I will follow You all of my days

Before You

Words and Music by Randy Butler © 1999 Mercy / Vineyard Publishing

Is there forgiveness for the things I’ve done?

Is there pardon for sinners? ‘Cause I know that I’m one.
Before You, before You.

Would You take this heart of foulness, make it clean again

Would You pour on me Your mercy, as I confess my sin
Before You, before You

Point my feet in the way they should go

Place Your Holy Spirit in me, Lead me in the way everlasting

I long to have a heart that’s pure I need to have a heart that’s pure
Before You, before You. Before You, before You.

Oh, Lord, forgive me.I need Your mercy.

Oh, Lord forgive me. I need Your mercy

Give Us Clean Hands

Words and Music by Charlie Hall © 2000worshiptogether.com songs; sixsteps Music

We bow our hearts we bend our knees

O Spirit come make us humble

We turn our eyes from evil things

O Lord we cast down our idols

Give us clean hands, Give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another
Give us clean hands, Give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another

And O God let us be a generation that seeks
That seeks Your face O God of Jacob
And O God let us be a generation that seeks
That seeks Your face O God of Jacob

Our Great Savior

Words and Music by John Wilbur Chapman, Rowland Hugh Prichard © Public Domain

1. Jesus! What a Friend for sinners!
Jesus! Lover of my soul;
Friends may fail me, foes assail me,
He, my Savior, makes me whole.

Hallelujah! What a Savior! Hallelujah! What a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving, He is with me to the end.

2. Jesus! What a Strength in weakness!Let me hid myself in Him;
Tempted, tried, and sometimes failing,

He, my Strength, my victory wins.

3. Jesus! What a Help in sorrow!While the billows o’er me roll;
Even when my heart is breaking,He, my Comfort, helps my soul.

4. Jesus! What a Guide and Keeper!While the tempest still is high;
Storms about me, night o’er takes me,He, my Pilot, hears my cry.

5. Jesus! I do now receive Him!More than all in Him I find,
He hath granted me forgiveness,I am His, and He is mine.

You Never Let Go

Words and Music by Beth & Matt Redman © 2005 Thankyou Music

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

Your perfect love is casting out fear.

And even when I’m caught in the middle of the storms of this life, I won’t turn back, I know You are near

And I will fear no evil, for my God is with me.

And if my God is with me,

Whom then shall I fear? Whom then shall I fear?

O no, You never let go, through the calm and through the storm.

O no, You never let go,in every high and every low.

O no, You never let go, Lord, You never let go of me

(You keep on loving and you never let go)

And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on.

A glorious light beyond all compare.

And there will be an end to these troubles, but until that day comes,We’ll live to know You here on earth.

Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on.

And there will be an end to these troubles, but until that day comes, Still I will praise You, still I will praise You.

You Are My Vision

Words and Music by Eleanor Henrietta Hull, Mary Elizabeth Byrne, Rend Collective © 2011 Thankyou Music

Oh, oh, oh. Oh, oh, oh.
You are my vision, oh king of mine heart
Nothing else satisfies, only You, Lord
You are my best thought by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Your presence, my light.
Oh, oh, oh. Oh, oh, oh.

You are my wisdom, You are my true word
I ever with You and You with me, Lord
You're my great Father and I'm Your true Son
You dwell inside me, together we're one. Oh, oh, oh. Oh, oh, oh.

You are my battle shield, sword for the fight
You are my dignity, You're my delight
You're my soul's shelter and You're my high tower
Come raise me heavenward, oh, power of my power
Oh, oh, oh. Oh, oh, oh.

I don't want riches or a man's empty praise
You're my inheritance, now and always
You and You only, the first in my heart
High king of heaven, my treasure You are
Oh, oh, oh. Oh, oh, oh.

High king of heaven, when victory's won
May I reach heaven's joy, oh, bright heaven's Son
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall
Still be my vision, oh, ruler of all. Oh, oh, oh.

Heart of my own heart, whatever befall
Still be my vision, oh, ruler of all.
Oh, oh, oh. Oh, oh, oh.Oh, oh, oh. Oh, oh, oh.
