Anticipating Next Sunday
The hope of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego was in the God who rescues from eternal judgment, not simply from temporal judgment!
How does this text enlarge your hope in the supremacy of Christ? 1. Pray: “Holy Spirit Please, open my eyes to see wonderful things in this text.” 2. Write your thoughts and thanks. 3. Joyfully share your thoughts with someone else.
What gave Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego confidence to defy Nebuchadnezzar’s order?
Daniel 3:14–18 (NIV84)
14 and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? 15 Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?”
16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and He will rescue us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if He does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

Go, Tell it on the Mountain
Go, tell it on the mountain, Over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain, That Jesus Christ is born.
While shepherds kept their watching o’er silent flocks by night.
Behold, throughout the heavens, There shone a holy light.
Go, tell it on the mountain, Over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain, That Jesus Christ is born.
The shepherds feared and trembled, When, lo above the earth,
Rang out the angel chorus that hailed our Savior’s birth
Go, tell it on the mountain, Over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain, That Jesus Christ is born.
Down in a lowly manger, The humble Christ was born,
And God sent us salvation That blessed Christmas morn.
Go, tell it on the mountain, Over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain, That Jesus Christ is born.
Long Time Ago in Bethlehem/Mary’s Little Boy Child
Long time ago in Bethlehem So the Holy Bible say,
Mary's Boy Child, Jesus Christ Was born on Christmas Day.
Hark, now hear the angels sing, a King was born today.
And man will live for evermore because of Christmas Day.
While shepherds watch their flocks by night,
They see a bright new shining star.
They hear a choir from Heaven sing -
the music seemed to come from afar.
Hark, now hear the angels sing, a King was born today.
And man will live for evermore because of Christmas Day.
Now, Joseph and his wife, Mary – came to Bethlehem that night.
They found no place to bear her child – Not a single room was in sight.
By and by they found a little nook in a stable all forlorn.
And in a manger, cold and dark, Mary’s little Boy Child was born.
Trumpets sound and angels sing; Listen to what they say:
That man will live forevermore, because of Christmas day.
We Three Kings
We three kings of Orient are, Bearing gifts we traverse afar,
Field and fountain, moor and mountain, Following yonder star. Oh!
Star of wonder, star of night, Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding, Guide us to thy perfect light.
Born a King on Bethlehem’s plain, Gold I bring to crown Him again,
King forever, ceasing never, Over us all to reign. Oh!
Glorious now behold Him arise, King and God and Sacrifice,
Alleluia, alleluia! Earth to Heaven replies. Oh!
Holy and Anointed One
Jesus, Jesus, Holy and anointed One, Jesus
Jesus, Jesus, Risen and exalted One, Jesus
Your name is like honey on my lips.
Your Spirit like water to my soul.
Your word is a lamp unto my feet.
Jesus, I love You. I love You.
Jesus, Jesus, Holy and anointed One, Jesus
Jesus, Jesus, Risen and exalted One, Jesus
Your name is like honey on my lips.
Your Spirit like water to my soul.
Your word is a lamp unto my feet.
Jesus, I love You. I love You.
