WORSHIP FACILITIES

The design staff at Innovative Electrical Systems Inc. has partnered over the years with architectural firms to provide a worship environment within religious facilities of many faiths. From the traditional design architecture of St. John’s Cathedral in Denver where a new lighting system and lighting control was provided for the existing chapel to the more modern design of Christ Episcopal Church in Denver, Colorado IES Inc. has made its mark of creativity on these facilities. The lighting system for the main sanctuary was designed to enhance the architectural feature of the exposed wood beam and deck ceiling. The custom designed wood chandelier draws focus to the ceiling and becomes an intricate part of the architectural environment.

After the First Unitarian Church of Denver burned in the early 1980’s, we were part of the design team that was asked to bring the facility back to life. Part of the design was to create a well illuminated, yet simple design for the small worship chapel/ multipurpose room. The choice of a fluorescent cove along each side and wall sconces at the columns created an affordable yet functional approach to meet diverse lighting needs. The large rose window at the rear of the room had been spared by the fire and became a reminder of the original facility. A wall cove was created so that a pink neon lamp could be concealed around the stained glass panels in order to

highlight the window and enhance the ruby stone at the center. A series of fluorescent coves were created to provide lighting and keep with the simple approach to the architecture yet still provide focus to the main chancel area.

In addition, IES Inc. has provided electrical engineering and lighting design for many worship facilities including the chapel at J.K. Mullen High School and the chapel at Temple Emanuel in Denver. They have also provided electrical engineering and lighting design for Park Hill Baptist Church in Pueblo, Colorado and the Vietnamese Community Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado.
