The Hong Kong Netball Association will offer an Umpiring Workshop, during the upcoming Tri-Nations tournament from Friday 21st – Sunday 23rd February 2014.

The Workshop will take the format of a Rules Discussion and there will be an opportunity for some practical umpiring, during the juniors’ game on the Saturday morning. We are extremely fortunate to have Stacey Campton with us for this workshop, assisted by Jenny Chadwick.

All Umpiring Sessions will be held at the same venue as the Tri-Nations (Kowloon Park Sports Centre). All sessions will be conducted in English. Please note that the times given below are an indication at present and maybe subject to change.

Workshop Outline:

Session 1: Friday 21st February

6.00pm

Rules Discussion, led by Stacey, assisted by Jenny. What are the rules of Netball that you struggle with? What is the difference between Contact and Contest? How can I improve my application of those rules, when I am umpiring?

7.15pm Q & A

8.30pm: Watch the International match between Hong Kong and Sri Lanka, focusing on the umpiring.

Session 2: Saturday 22nd February

9.00am

Preparing to umpire. Discussion workshop on positioning, vision and timing.

Session 3: Saturday 22nd February

11.00 am: During the game between HKCC Juniors and HKFC Juniors

An opportunity to umpire the game with support from Stacey and Jenny.

6pm: Watch the International match between Hong Kong and Malaysia focusing on the umpiring.

On completion of the Workshop, umpires will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
