THE CIP DISPENSARY SHEET

It has been agreed at the CIP meeting that dispensary staff should dispense the following drugs in line with the guidance provided.

Drug / Dispensing recommendation
Ciclosporin / Deximune® brand to be dispensed for all dermatology and gastroenterology ciclosporin prescriptions (even if patient previously on Neoral®).
Those renal transplant patients established on Neoral® to continue on that brand.
Cyclizine IV / Ondansetron to be considered as first line antiemetic
Goserelin / Triptorelin / Goserelin may only be dispensed for patients established on therapy. Those starting a gonadorelin analogue should be dispensed triptorelin
Insulin / Supply a maximum of 2 pre-filled pens
Immunoglobulin / Privigen is the brand to be used for NEW patients. Dosing to be based on dose determining weight
Phenytoin capsules / Challenge new oral prescriptions
Supply a maximum of 2 weeks of oral formulation
Prednisolone (soluble) / Crush and disperse plain tablets
Solifenacin / Should be switched to immediate release tolterodine
Sudocrem / Not to be supplied. Wards to follow guidance issued by tissue viability nurse
Symbicort Turbohaler / If 2 puffs bd prescribed of 400/12 it is cheaper to change to Seretide 500 Accuhaler one puff bd
Tacrolimus / The screener must endorse the specific brand
(in line with Trust policy)
Zolendronic acid / Use generic product only
