ALISTAIR SINCLAIR GUNN
Directional Driller
Having spent considerable time exploring Antarctica, sailing the Southern Ocean, and working in the oil field I have learnt that a failure to plan, manage, or foresee can result in serious implications. My experiences to date have firmly embedded these skills in my professional and personal life – and the courage to practice them; maintaining the highest possible standards. All my endeavors have been met with enthusiasm, dedication, and a desire to excel. As a Directional Driller, already conversant in all aspects of the MODU/ Land rig drilling program, I have been relied upon by my various employers to approach all work with professionalism, commitment, and in alignment with best practices; whether as part of a team, or as a leader. All things considered, I am at my most enthusiastic, driven, and capable of meeting the challenges and responsibilities ahead.

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
Directional Driller Weatherford Drilling Services (2015 – Present)
Operations primarily conducted from jack-up’s/platforms/Land Rigs in Cameroon, and Land Rigs in the UAE. Trajectories have varied from J and S type, to horizontal. Complex formations and strict LP criteria have been met in the UAE. Experienced with: Orientation of deviated CP’s, Jetting, Anti-Collision, PDM, RSS, and Torque and Drag modelling.
M/LWD Engineer Weatherford Drilling Services (2013 – 2015)
Experienced engineer on triple-combo/RSS contracts off Cameroon. Operations primarily conducted from jack-up/platforms, and focusing on Type I and IV wells. Splitting time with LWD and DD’ing
M/LWD Engineer PathFinder/Schlumberger D&M (2007 - 2013) Providing accurate directional information to aid the drilling of E&P wells, and the provision of high resolution FE data using the full suite of LWD tools, as well as RSS. Competent in the principles & applications of Directional Drilling; with some practical experience. Geographic locations: Europe, North Sea, South Atlantic, W. Africa, M. East.
Mud Logger Datalog Technology (2006 - 2007) Focus on the collation of geological data and interpretation of the down-hole variables effecting E&P wells; including basic IWC principles. Proficient in MODU/Land Unit drilling operations. Geographic Locations: Central & West Africa, Europe, North Sea
Assistant Expedition Leader (Antarctica) Peregrine Adventures (2005 – 2006) Management and running of the vessel’s logistics and equipment. Responsible for the HSE as well as the planning, command, and control of passenger excursions in a potentially hostile environment with no external support. Presentations, event management, and briefings where also inherent to the role. Geographic Locations: Antarctica, S. America, S. Atlantic.
INDUSTRY SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE
Directional Driller
  • Second-man Directional Driller, experiencing both off-shore and on-shore work. Trajectories have varied from J, to S type and horizontal. Exposure to numerous drilling related issues, including; Anti-Collision, faults, Jetting, ERD hole cleaning, GWD, and stuck pipe. Complex formations and strict LP challenges in UAE have also been met. These wells were drilled usingboth motors and Weatherford’s latest RSS. Extensive use of Torque and Drag modelling (DEPRO), and Anti-Collision monitoring has also been inherent to my work.
M/LWD Engineer
  • Experienced M/LWD hand with expertise in all tools and concepts; specifically Surveying, Formation Testing, GWD, PWD, Density Neutron, Resistivity, Log Analysis, PDM, and RSS. Also experienced in HPHT, Short Radius, Deep Water, and Extended Reach wells. Conversant with all aspects of the drilling operation.
  • Extensive experience in North Sea operations and procedures, with particular understanding of Semi-Sub’s in both the Northern and Southern North Sea. Several jobs have also been conducted both on and off-shore Europe and Africa for international majors and independents.
  • Involved in several high profile wells for various clients; most notably the Desire / RKH / BHP Billiton Falklands campaigns, where I was one of the lead engineers between February 2010 and July 2011. Challenging operations have been for Genel in N. Iraq; focusing on abnormally pressured, and highly fractured reservoirs, as well as Cameroon; where AC SF is often <0.5 – requiring jetting, and extreme AC/Well Plan vigilance.

INDUSTRY SPECIFIC TRAINING
  • B.O.S.I.E.T. & F.O.E.T.
  • Dutch Safety VCA-1
  • H2S Training
  • UK / Norwegian Medical
  • Directional Drilling School, 5D Well Planning / DD Software (WFT, Abu Dhabi), Anti-collision.
  • IPM Fundamental Well Control (internal SLB course, not IWC/IADC)
  • D&M High Temperature Op's (internal SLB course)
Various courses focusing on Well Head tools, Fishing & Re-entry, Production Concepts, Directional Drilling, and Anti-collision through SLB and WFT.
INTERESTS AND ACTIVITIES
  • Squash, Running, Physical Fitness.
  • Fine Wine Investment/Collecting.
  • Skiing, Mountain Biking, Winter Mountaineering.

SUPPLEMENTRY INFORMATION
British Antarctic Climbing & Paramotoring Expedition (2004 – 2005) Part of an eight man team, sailing ten thousand nautical miles in the Southern Ocean and South Atlantic. The principal goals - to climb several previously unclimbed peaks on the Antarctic Peninsula and to be the first to paramotor in Antarctica – were achieved.
British Army Antarctic Expedition (BAAE) (2005) Conveyed a British Army team from the Falkland Islands to the Antarctic Peninsula and provided logistical, emergency, and pick-up support for that expedition whilst they crossed the Forbidden Plateau and climbed Mt. Walker, the highest unclimbed peak in British Antarctic Territory.
British South Georgia Expedition (2005) With aims similar to those in the previous expeditions, plus an additional suite of scientific goals, our team spent seven weeks on the island. A successful attempt on Mount Paget was also made
