- Spirit Month–April has been a great month to recognize dates associated with certain worthy causes. World Autism Awareness Day, Purple Up for Military Kids and the Jimmy Fund Red Sox day were all a hit. Our last spirit day will be WPS Pride Day on Friday, April 22nd. Students are encouraged to wear their grade’s color to fill the school with a rainbow of colors. (K-purple; 1-red; 2-green; 3-blue; 4-orange)
- April Dine-Out will be on Tuesday, April 19thfrom 5:00-7:00pm at McDonalds! 20% of all proceeds from dine-in and drive-thru will be donated to benefit the PTO’s support of enrichment programs. This fundraiser always proves to be a fun time for all, including balloons, face painting and plenty of community camaraderie.
- International Family Night – Thursday, April 21st from 5:30-7:00 in the WPS cafeteria. Celebrate the cultural diversity in our community through music, arts, food and more! Look for flyers in backpacks and homework folders.
- Art to Remember–It’s not too late! Thanks to Kimberly Alexander and Aliah Cortes, initial orders should arrive by Mother’s Day. Additional orders can be placed online or by phone until May 13th. These additional orders will arrive early June.
- Educator Appreciation Week–May 2nd-6th
- Spring Flowers Fundraiser – Look for an order form to come home soon. The tentative deadline for orders is Wednesday, April 20th. Flowers will arrive for pickup on Tuesday, May 3rd.
- Bike to School Day – May 4th – more details coming soon
- Spring Book Fair – 5/6-5/13 – more details coming soon
- Spring Chorus Concert – Wednesday, May 11that 7:00pm
- Spring Ice Cream Social – Thursday, May 12th – come join the fun!
- Ellis Island Day – Friday, May 13th - 3rd grade annual event!

- Green Wave Apparel Fundraiser – orders should arrive for distribution prior to April school break.
- The 5th Annual Woodman Idolwas another huge success this year. With over 25 talented acts performing and plenty of ALL DANCE opportunities, a fantastic time was had by all. Thanks so much to Shelley MacGregor for all of her hard work on this event, and thanks to all of the performers.
- 35th Annual Reds Race took place this past Sunday, April 10th. Despite the chilly weather, there were more than 1,000 participants in either the 5-mile race or the 2.4-mile walk. Thank you so much to all of the volunteers who stepped up to represent WPS. Your involvement has helped ensure that we will be welcome to participate again next year.
- Math on the Move Family Night was an awesome event with an incredible turnout. Thanks so much to the students, families and staff members who showed up to help refresh and update our blacktop.
- Volunteer Opportunities
- Educator Appreciation Weekis the first week of May. Carolyn will be sending out a SignUp Genius in April for volunteers and to help organizing.
- There are lots of fun activities brewing for April and May. Be on the lookout for requests for volunteers for Bike To School Day, Spring Book Fair and Ellis Island Day to name a few.
- We are always in need of new and interesting fundraiser ideas!
- WPS Yearbook–This is the last call for photos to be included in this year’s yearbook. If you have any, please get them to Laura Beatham at your earliest convenience.

- This week is National Volunteer Week! Thank you to all of the wonderful people who take the time to volunteer in so many ways in our community. Because of the contributions of many, we make amazing things happen every day!
