Making the “Culture of Vocations” Real (10/15)

The New England Member Area of the National Religious Vocation Conference, in collaboration with Assumption College, Worcester, is hosting a half day event on Sunday, October 15th from noon to 4:30 p.m. on the Assumption College campus. “Making the ‘Culture of Vocation’ REAL,” will explore vocation in general as well as those called to religious life. This theme was requested by Pope Francis in preparation for the upcoming Synod of Bishops 2018 “Discernment and Youth: The Discernment of the Christian Vocation.” Through the eyes and hearts of young religious men and women, speakers will examine how young people perceive religious life, how older religious can understand and accompany young people on their spiritual journey, and how to assist young people in their discernment of God’s call. Youth and Young Adults who are looking into religious life as an option are encouraged to come. For more information, contact Fr. Rocco Puopolo,s.x. or at 508.429.2144.

Special Respect Life Month Presentation (10/22)

As part of Respect Life Month, the Pro Life Office of the Archdiocese of Boston is sponsoring a special presentation entitled “Eli’s Reach: Learning to See How Support of Persons with Disabilities Is a Blessing and Not a Burden” on Sunday, October 22 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Our Lady of the Presentation Lecture Hall of St. John’s Seminary (680 Washington Street, Brighton). Eli is a remarkable 8 year old boy with spina bifida. Eli’s dad, Chad Judice, will tell the amazing story of how many hearts and souls have been touched by Eli, beginning even before he was born. It is a story of faith, of courage, of solidarity -- and certainly one of living out the gospel message “Be not afraid”. All are welcome. Admission is free. For more information, contact the Pro Life Office at 508.651.1900 or

Witnesses in Global Mission

Witnesses in Global Mission are priests, brothers, sisters and laity with passionate devotion to be global cross cultural ambassadors, sharing insights, current motivations and signs of hope for the tasks ahead for our Church and the world. They witness and envision Mission from the lens of their overseas experience and current Mission Theology.

They are available for engagement with you through events that promote consciousness of our global world in collaboration with other likeminded groups, such as Pax Christi, Parish Peace and Justice Committees, inviting active involvement in mission outreach beyond our parishes and dioceses. They would be available for Mission education programs in schools (all levels of education from elementary, high school and university in classroom presentations, panels, seminars, etc.) Parish presentations to various groups on Mission Spirituality, Presentations to Parish Youth groups, especially aiding those who have experienced Mission Trips, Social Justice Presentations on topics such as Human Trafficking, War & Peace, Trade, Care of Creation, Health Concerns, Food Security and more… Presentations could be offered to Confirmation Classes or Retreats on Mission for the same.

0th Wedding Anniversary Mass

October 15 ~ Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time The readings today remind us of the generosity of God who provides for us “a feast of rich food…” We are so fortunate to be able to gather at the table of the Lord to receive the Body of Christ in Holy Communion. This simple but rich food nourishes our lives giving us all that we need to be the body of Christ for others This week, pray for the grace to extend an invitation to someone to “come to the feast” and join you at Mass.

October 23 ~ Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time St. Paul writes of his gratitude for the community at Thessalonica in the second reading today. He offers a prayer of thanksgiving for them remembering their works of faith and labors of love. His words of encouragement kept the community engaged in the work of promoting the faith and strengthening their bond of love for one another. Take five minutes each day this week to offer a prayer of thanksgiving for your parish community, praying that it will continue to grow in faith.

October 29 ~ Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time Jesus doesn’t mince words in today’s gospel. “The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments” - love God with your whole being and love your neighbor as yourself. There is no wiggle room in how we are to behave and how we are to treat one another. As his disciples, let us pray for the grace to be faithful to living according to these commandments in all areas of our life.
