All classes are open to TREC GB Members and Non Members - everyone is welcome.Only paid up members of TREC GB will have their scores to count in the TREC GB Winter Leagues.

For the League run by Bowland TREC Group you need to be a member at the time of competing for those scores to count. For individual classes on the day rosettes from Bowland TREC Group will be given from 1st to 6th place irrespective of membership status.

Class description & order:

1. OPEN

Open to all horses and riders. PTV obstacles equivalent to Level 3/4

2. INTERMEDIATE

Horse and rider combination not to have been placed 1st in two or more INTERMEDIATE classes, or to have won an Open class at WINTER TREC competitions prior to 1st October 2016. PTV obstacles equivalent to Level 2/3

3. NOVICE HORSE

Open to HORSES that have not been placed 1st in two or more NEWCOMER classes, or to have won an Intermediate or an Open class at WINTER TREC Competitions prior to 1st October 2016. PTV obstacles equivalent to Level 1

4. NOVICE RIDER

Open to RIDERS that have not been placed 1st in two or more NEWCOMER classes, or to have won an Intermediate or an Open class at WINTER TREC Competitions prior to 1st October 2016. PTV obstacles equivalent to Level 1

COMPETITION FORMAT

The competition consists of two phases, unless stated otherwise in specific class rules.

1: MA takes place over 25m to 150m. Each section being awarded 50% of the points accrued via the sliding scale look up tables.

2: PTV course of TEN obstacles, simulated to represent those you might meet out hacking, designed to test riding skills, the training of your horse and the accord between you.

Individual score sheets are given out after each prize giving or by leaving a stamped addressed envelope with the organiser.

A waiting list of late entries will be kept in the event of withdrawals before the closing date.

TREC GB WINTER LEAGUE

Each of the league classes (above) will have their own TREC GB national league.

League points will be awarded depending on finishing position: 10 points for 1st down to 1 point for 10th place.

The highest four scores will be counted for the league. In the event of equal positions TOTAL actual PTV scores (from all 4 events) will be taken into account.

THE BOWLAND TREC GROUP WINTER LEAGUE.

At the end of the Winter season perpetual trophies sponsored by Bernard Marsden will be awarded to the rider and horse combination who have accumulated the most points in the following individual classes: affiliated Open and affiliated Newcomer. There is also a perpetual trophy for the affiliated Intermediate class The Richmond Rose Bowl, kindly donated by Diane Richmond.

There are 3 trophies, one to be awarded for each class and placings/points will be kept separate if rider and horse combinations take part in any/all classes.

Rosettes will be awarded at the end of the season from 1st to 6th place in each league class.

Points will be awarded depending on placings in the classes at each Winter indoor TREC Competition run by Bowland TREC Group between October 2016 and March 2017.

Points will be allocated to rider and horse combinations placed 1st to 10th in the Open, Intermediateand Newcomer classes. 1st place 10 points, 2nd Place 9 points and so on.

In the event of a tie in points for placings 1st to 6th the combination with the highest single PTV score will take the higher place.

Riders must be members of Bowland TREC Group in 2016 and 2017, and at the time of the competition for the points to count.

If the Bowland TREC Group membership number is not quoted on the entry form, the entry will not be taken into account for the Club League

GENERAL RULES & CONDITIONS

Placingwill be decided with the rider gaining the highest combined score from the PTV and Control of Paces phases taking the first prize. In the event of equality the highest score from PTV will take precedence.

RULES AS PER THE TREC GB RULEBOOK AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD FROM

1. Competitions are open to all horses and ponies providing that they are a minimum of 4yrs of age.

2. Riders any age, juniors may ride horses and seniors may ride ponies.

3. No rider will be permitted to start any phase of the event unless wearing a hard hat, which meets current standard recommended by the BHS (PAS 015,or ASTMF 1163 and bearing kite mark or SEI) that is properly fitted and fastened with a chinstrap. See below***

4. Riders may choose to wear a body protector during any phase of the competition. If worn, Beta 3 standard is strongly recommended.

5. Tack & dress informal but safe. Riders must wear suitable riding footwear.

6. Standing Martingales and other fixed reins are forbidden. If a running martingale is used, horse must be led from headcollar and leadrope for led PTV obstacles.

7. Whips must not exceed 75cms. Spurs, if worn, must be rounded, not exceeding 3.5cms in length and pointed downwards.

8. The judges and officials decision is final and must be complied with at all times. Un- corrected error on PTV course will result in a ZERO score for the PTV.

Elimination may result for any of the following reasons: Excessive use of whip, Abusive language, Dangerous riding,

***PLEASE NOTE THAT HATS THAT ARE ONLY STANDARD EN 1384 ONLY CAN NO LONGER BE USED IN A TREC COMPETITION. Hats as stated above are acceptable. A hat check will be undertaken prior to your first class, please allow time for this.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

The event manager/organiser has taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and

prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the officials and stewards on the day.

Trained First Aiders will be present at the event and should be summoned through an official in the event of an accident. The event manager/organiser will have contact telephone numbers of emergency veterinary and farriery service. Please take care to safeguard valuable tack and possessions.

Young children must be supervised at all times. Neither the event manager/organiser nor the land/course owners can accept responsibility for loss or injury to persons or animals howsoever caused.

All TREC competitions rely on the support of volunteer judges and helpers. Can you or anyone coming with you lend a hand? Please telephone Suzanne Davis if you can assist us with judging/stewarding/scoring on the day.

No experience necessary – we are grateful for all offers of help and you will learn lots from the inside!

If riders in the last class can help with packing obstacles away while the results are calculated this would be very helpful for us. Prize giving will be after we have packed way.
