UPPER BEEDING Parish Winter Maintenance Plan 2013

Purpose:

West Sussex County Council has identified the service that it will provide, within the resources available (current budget of £1.5m), during the winter period, October to April.

West Sussex County Council needs to prioritise its resources and therefore can only support these supplemental proposals if they are identified and agreed in a Local Winter Maintenance Plan.

In order to enable WSCC to plan and deliver supplemental proposals identified in Local Winter Maintenance Plans the Plans must be submitted by 1st August 2013 and agreed by the end of August 2013.

Please establish and provide your own point of contact during the preparation of the Parish Winter Maintenance Plan.

A pre-snow event statement will be issued by e-mail to all those who have been established as the Community Local Winter Maintenance Plan point of contact, to advise when to start implementing the plan and to indicate the likelihood of a prolonged snow event.

7. Mark on the map local routes that need to be treated by local arrangements (i.e. farmers or volunteers) that are not covered by WSCC precautionary network (P1 and P2 routes). These should match those areas identified in section 5.

8. Identify appropriate storage locations for bulk bags – this needs to be an accessible location that is covered and secure. Single bags will not be dropped off alongside roads and per-identified areas as in past years as they will not be protected from the elements.

The two contractors listed below are believed to have suitable storage, and will be approached during the summer.
