1986 - 1990 Associate Professor at the "Institut für Biokybernetik und Biomedizinische Technik" at the University of Karlsruhe. Research on control strategies for functional electrical stimulation of spinal cord injured people.

1986 Jahrestagung der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Biomedizinische Technik
2002 12th Nordic Baltic Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Physic. President of the conference, which was organised by The Icelandic Society of Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics. Participants where 170, 130 from foreign countries and 40 from Iceland. Parallel to the conference there was a trade show organised in co-operation with several Icelandic organisations.
