Wick Juniors Writing Club – Registration Packet

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
I am really looking forward to your child/children participating in the Wick Juniors Writing Club this summer. This club was created bya few young writers who said, “we want a club and a place to get together and write during the summer!” Over the past few years it has grown, and we are excited to offer another year of creative writing experiences for talented young writers in northeast Ohio. This year it is even more exciting with our new home and poetry park.
In this packet you will find forms for you to keep for your records, and forms for you to fill out and return. You can e-mail your completed forms to - or mail them to: Nicole Robinson - Outreach Manager - Wick Poetry Center - Kent State University - PO BOX 5190 - Kent, OH 44242.Please do not mail cash, check or credit card information. If you plan on paying with cash / check, please do so on the first day of the Wick Juniors Writing Club. All registration forms and payment must be turned in no later than the first day, June 18th, at 11:00 a.m.On this date students will also receive “word nerd” tote bags (which will include a poetry gift, writer’s notebook, and pencil).
This year our weekly drop off and pick up will be so much easier! We are now located in the May Prentice House at 126 S. Lincoln Street, Kent Ohio. You can park across the street in the R1 lot connected to the Fashion building and not be ticketed. Please note that your son / daughter will have to cross Lincoln Street if dropping them off / turning around in the R1 lot. We will have at least one staff member outside beginning at 10:45 a.m. to help Wick Juniors cross the street safely.
Please have your son / daughter bring a packed lunch each week.
We are also excited to end the Wick Juniors Writing Club with a reading again. This reading will be open to students, faculty and the community. The reading will be held on Tuesday, August 4th at 6:30 p.m. in the Wick Poetry Center’s Poetry Park.

Wick Juniors Writing Club Schedule 2015
Please note the *pick up time on dates of writing fieldtrips. If you prefer to drive your child to the fieldtrips, please note that on the transportation form. Time of arrival and departure can be provided for you.

Writing sessions will begin at Wick Poetry Center and then travel down the esplanade to visit local businesses and the Cuyahoga river downtown Kent. We will be writing poems to display at local businesses.
