Situation:You are spending a few weeks in Paris this summer and have been asked to write a blog about French Fashion for your school newspaper. Before you go, you will need to do some research on the importance of French fashion, where to shop in France, as well as a famous designer in order to write your article.

  • As a traveler, what are some of the advantages to shopping at a department store?

  • Where can you find their products in the metropolitan Detroit area?

  • Write your BLOG for the Panther Prowl including information from both tasks
  • Your target audience is “American teens in suburban Detroit”
  • Write the BLOG from the perspective of someone who spent a few weeks in Paris and tell your fellow students:
  • What you observed about fashion and shopping in Paris.
  • Where they might want to visit if they go to Paris
  • What you learned about a famous French designer

Don’t forget to include a few pictures in your one page blog

Conclusion: At the conclusion of this assignment, you will have furthered your knowledge of an important part of French culture as well as your knowledge of an influential person/ designer in France. Next time you go shopping for some new clothes you will have a whole new understanding of how the styles and colors you buy may be influenced by French Fashion week.

  1. The best thing to do is to put your items in your shopping bag (PANIER) until you’ve spent most of your money.
  2. Tell me what you are buying by writing a short description in French.

Your description should include the following in FRENCH:

  • Where you are shopping
  • For which meal
  • The verb acheter
  • At least one adjective describing each product
  • The price
  • Picture of each item

Example: For my meal with Johnny Depp, I’m going to buy a beautiful black shirt and some stylish jeans at Naf Naf. The shirt costs(coûte)75 euros, and the jeans cost (coûtent)125 euros. At Galéries Lafayette (Aux), I’m going to buy a black Louis Vuitton belt which costs (qui coûte) 420 euros and a blue and black Hermes scarf that costs 500 euros.

Conclusion(La Conclusion)

Through this process, you learned to identify articles of clothing, colors and sizes in French and learned how to convert your dollars to the Euro. You also learned to make smart money decisions so you could stay within a budget all while virtual shopping in a variety of stores.
