  1. Go to www. portaportal.com

Open up 2nd grade and click on People to Know Review.

  1. Read about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Susan B. Anthony, Helen Keller, Jackie Robinson, and Martin Luther King, Jr.
  2. Write 3 “Who Am I?” statements about each person in the chart below. George Washington is done for you. Begin statements with “I”

*Teachers –may be helpful if this was done before coming to lab.

(Powerpoint Activity)

□Open Shortcut to 2 lab folder on desktop.

*Double click Who Am I 2nd grade template

□Go to File, Save As…

*Next to File Name: type your name

□Slide 1 is done for you as an example.

Click on Slide 2

*Add your 3 statements about one of the people on your list

Click on Slide 3-6

*Continue in the same manner as Slide 2

Click on Slide 7

*Slide 7 isdone for you as an example

Click on Slide 8

*Type in title (person’s name that you wrote statements about in slide 2- click on slide 2 if needed to review statements)

*Click in the middle of the slide

*Insert the picture of the person named in your title for this slide.

-Go to Insert, Picture, From File

-On the left hand side of the window, My Network Places

-Double click Teachers on Bradley 2000

-Open Second Grade

-Open 2nd Grade People Pictures

-Select the Person that you want and Insert

-To resize picture, ALWAYS drag from the corner.

Click on Slide 9-12

*Continue is the same manner as Slide 8

Raise your hand when you are done. SAVE your work.

Printing and Flip Page Instructions

  1. After all slides are complete, print as a handout 6 slides per page.

*FILE -> PRINT WHAT: select HANDOUTS

*Handouts -> Slides per page ->select 6

*Select Ok

  1. Once printed, on page 1, cut around both sides and the bottom of each slide to create a “flap.”
  2. Put glue (or staple) on the back of page 1—DO NOT GLUE FLAPS!
  3. Place page 1 on top of page 2. Make sure the sides are directly on top of one another.
