Dear Parents and Caregivers,

You are most welcome to attend this year’s swimming carnival on Wednesday 15thMarch at the Baywave Aquatic Centre, Mount Maunganui.

There is a small entry fee for parents/supporters and seating at the pools is limited, so we encourage parents/caregivers to bring their own seat to view pool side.

There will be competitive races for our most competent swimmers and students have been asked to pre-enter and select from these events:

25m Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke

50m Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke, Butterfly

100m Freestyle, Individual Medley

200mFreestyle

To compete in the Championships your son or daughter is committing to enter at least three of the above events. Pre-entries are being taken over the next week and must be made on the College Website under Sport then Swimming.

The 200m Freestyle will be the first event starting at 9.00 am so those students competing in this event must make their own way to the pool. A warm up time will be permitted for this.

Students are permitted to dress in House colours, but NO FACE PAINT. Arrive ready to swim, with togs on and appropriate footwear for around the pool.

It is essential that all students bring a water bottle to assist with hydration throughout the day and a couple of towels (a plastic bag or alternative would be handy). Also everyone must have a packed lunch and snacks as there will be no allowance for students to leave the pools or use the pool shop.

Buses have been booked to leave school at 8.45am and to be back at Aquinas by 3.00pm in time to connect with normal school departures. Please indicate on the on-line entry whether you need bus transport.

For those students who live close to the pools, please ensure you get there on time for the start of the day. We ask that your child arrives at 9.00am. Also students who regularly drive to school, it is expected that you please come to school as normal and then take the bus.

We expect House Captains to take a strong lead in this day either as a swimmer or in assisting with the smooth running of this event.

Any parents or caregivers who are available to assist on the day as a timekeeper will be welcomed. Please indicate this on the on-line entry form or contact me at school: or phone: 543 2400 Ext 223.

Many thanks

Marty Lee
