How will the skydive be run on the day?

This is a tandem skydive, which offers the full skydiving experience with a fully qualified instructors guiding you through every part.The skydive will be run by UK Parachuting, who are a British Parachute Association (BPA) Affiliated Drop Zone based at Beccles Airfield, Suffolk. With some of the most experienced instructors and coaches in the UK, they provide a complete skydive service.

You will be given a 20-30min briefing on the day, to prepare you for your skydive. During the aircraft ascent, you'll get a scenic view of the beautiful Norfolk and Suffolk countryside and coastline. You'll fly to around 13,000ft (approx. 2 miles high!) where you'll leave the aircraft with your instructor. Falling at 120mph, you descend to 5,000ft in around just 40 seconds, where your instructor will open the parachute and fly you safely back to earth! You'll have around 6 minutes under the parachute to enjoy breathtaking and unique views of the local area.

What does the cost of the skydive cover?

Included in the price of your skydive is full training, a tandem skydive with a qualified instructor, temporary membership to the BPA, which automatically covers you for third party liability up to £2,000,000. This does not however, cover you for personal injury and you are therefore strongly advised to arrange special personal cover for yourself.

Are there any age limits?

All skydivers need to be over 16. Anyone under 18 wishing to skydive will need a signed parental/guardian consent. Anyone over 40 will need a signed declaration from their doctor.

Are there any weight or height restrictions?

The weight limit for all skydives is 16st 7lbs for men, and 15st 7lbs for women. In addition, your weight should be in proportion to your height. If you are unsure or worried in anyway, please contact us.

How do I register to take part?

To register and place your £50 deposit please download a registration form and send it in with your payment (£50 deposit made payable to ‘UK Parachuting’) to Alison Ramsay 12 Langton Place, Hatter Street, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP33 1NE.

How much sponsorship do I need to raise?

Following payment of your £50 non refundable booking deposit, a further £300 in sponsorship is then due, either before or on the day of your skydive – you will not be able to skydive if you have not paid in full by the day of your skydive (£125 of the sponsorship will pay the balance of the skydive cost, and the remaining £175 sponsorship will come to CLIC Sargent).

How fit do you need to be?

You do not have to be super fit or tough to do a Tandem Skydive, but you must be in generally good health. You will need to complete a Declaration of Fitness and declare any current or past medical conditions you have had (e.g. epilepsy, fits, severe head injury, recurrent blackouts or giddiness, disease of the brain or nervous system, high blood pressure, heart or lung disease, dislocated shoulder, recurrent weakness or dislocation of any limb, diabetes, mental Illness, drug or alcohol addiction). If you have had any of these conditions, or are aged over 40 you will need to obtain a doctors certificate before being allowed to skydive (please note that this is not NHS work and your doctor may charge you for this – a specific appointment may need to be made). All skydivers must have their Declarations of Fitness witnessed, for skydivers under 18 years of age, the witness MUST be their parent or guardian.

What if the weather is bad and my skydive is cancelled?

UK Parachuting conduct a weather check between 6pm and 7pm the day before askydive is scheduled. If poor conditions or technical problems with the aircraft prevents the skydive taking place on the day booked, you will receive a voucher to re-book a mutually convenient date free of charge, within 12 months. Refunds will not be made under these circumstances.

What if I decide to pull out after paying my £50 deposit?

Your booking deposit is non-refundable, so you will lose this on cancellation of your skydive. Please give us as much notice as possible if you decide to pull out, as we may be able to fill your place with another participant to ensure we maximise the amount we raise for children & young people with cancer.

What do you need to wear?

Comfortable tracksuit type clothing is recommended for skydiving, with suitable footwear such as trainers. Slip onshoes or shoes with hooks or high heels must not be worn. Jeans are not recommended.If you do wear spectacles they should be securely attached while skydiving. Protective goggles should be worn.

Can I buy photos/a dvd of my skydive?

You can order your DVD prior to your jump, when you book your place and also on the day. Stills and DVDs are priced at £99 each / £135for both (the Skydive Centre accept cheque, cash or card payment).

Can my friends and family come and watch? What facilities are at the Skydive Centre?

Of course, bring your friends and family along to witness your bravery! There is parking on site, a café serving hot and cold food and drinks, toilets and seating outside if it’s a nice day.

How long will the skydive take?

When you register you will receive your skydive pack, this will contain your arrival time. There will be one group scheduled for the morning, and one group for the afternoon.Due to irregularities in weather, aircraft limitations and numbers of participants on the day, you may need to be at the airfield for the entire day, irrespective of your arrival time, so please allow for this when planning your day.
