What To Do If The Flip Video Battery Won’t Charge:

Procedure 1 (to be used with computer or wall charger):

  1. Take out the battery from your Flip Ultra HD
  2. Plug the Flip into the computer’s USBport or wall charger
  3. Once the “connected” indicator comes on, stick the battery back into the Flip
  4. Choose the safe remove hardware option on your PC (or the Mac equivalent). Skip step 4 if Flip is connected to wall charger only.
  5. Once safe to remove, pull the Flip out of the USB port or wall charger
  6. Plug it back in – it should charge without a hitch now
  7. If the battery won’t charge, give it 5 minutes before trying the second procedure

Procedure 2 (to be used with computer only):

  1. Take out the battery from your Flip Ultra HD
  2. Plug the Flip into the computer’s USB port
  3. Once the “connected” indicator comes on, stick the battery into the Flip
  4. Empty your recycle bin (yes, it sounds silly, but there is actually a good reason for this)
  5. Pull the Flip out of the USB port without the safe remove
  6. Plug it back in and check out if it’s charging. If it doesn’t start charging within 5 minutes, try the third procedure

Procedure 3 (to be used with computer only):

  1. Take out the battery from your Flip Ultra HD
  2. Plug it into the computer’s USB port
  3. Empty your recycle bin
  4. Pull the Flip out of the USB without safe removal
  5. Put the battery back in and try to charge

If you press the power button on the flip camera and nothing happens, it is most likely that the battery is not dead. Just try one of the options above and it should turn on.

Note: Always empty your recycle bin

Before plugging the flip camera into your computer, please be sure your computer’s recycle bin is empty. The flip camera has the ability to retrieve a “junk” file from your computer if the computer’s recycle bin isn’t empty. This junk file uses up unnecessary space on the flip camera, blocking it from receiving a fully charged battery regardless of how long you leave the camera pulled in and charging.

If the flip camera battery pack is completely depleted, it may take as long as 3.5 hours to reach a full charge. Please keep that in mind if there are multiple people using the camera is a short period of time!
