What isthe Draw Down?

A Draw Down is a type of raffle during which all sold tickets are individually drawn at random during the event. The grand prize money is $2500.00. The ticket numbers are displayed on a board at the event.

Tickets and Prizes- Huntsville High Football sets a goal for the number of raffle tickets to be sold (200). Tickets are $100 each and admit two adults to the event along with Heavy Hors D’oeuvres. A ticket purchaser may elect to purchase optional insurance for $25 prior to the 1st 50 tickets being drawn. As each name is drawn from the ticket barrel, it is removed from the board. If the ticket holder purchased insurance, then his/her name is put back on the board after the 1st 50 tickets have been pulled from the board for a second chance at the drawing. Ticket buyers must be at least 21 years of age to participate in the drawing. No one under 21 will be admitted to the event. Winners do not have to be present to win. Ticket holders are strongly encouraged to complete the proxy on the back side of the ticket designating their wishes as to whether to split the winning prize or not. When 4 names remain on the board, these ticket holders will be invited to the floor. At this time, the “ticket recorder” will verify that the names remaining in the barrel are the names of the ticket holders who are on the floor. If there is anyone whose name is still in the barrel, but who is not on the floor, then the “ticket recorder” will verify if the missing ticket holder has filed a proxy designating their wishes to continue with the draw down or split the prize. If the missing ticket holder did not complete the proxy, then the drawing will continue until all remaining ticket holders are represented in person or by proxy, or until the last ticket is drawn. Only one person per ticket will be allowed on the floor to represent and make decision regarding that ticket. If all ticket holders (or their proxies) for the remaining tickets in the barrel are on the floor, then the ticket holders are asked if they wish to split the prize or continue the drawing. If any person(s) is not in agreement to split the $2500.00, then the drawing continues until all ticket holders agree to split or until the last ticket is drawn. If the ticket holders agree to split, then the number of ticket holders remaining will evenly split the $2500.00prize. Winners are responsible for paying all taxes regarding any prizes awarded.

How are tickets sold? Approximately 20 ticket sellers are recruited to help sell tickets. The sellers will approach buyers and encourage them to buy a ticket with the optional insurance. The ticket entitles the ticket holder and spouse/friend to attend the event and to have their name in the draw down.

More than one person may jointly purchase a drawdown ticket and split the winnings accordingly. All names would need to be included on the ticket at the time of purchase as the “ticket holder”. In addition, a W-9 form would have to be completed by all individuals if the group should win the prize. Only two of the people can attend the event under the draw down ticket purchased.

Silent Auction- Some prizes may be awarded pursuant to a silent auction where bids are recorded on a bid sheet next to each prize being auctioned. Minimum bids and bid increments will be on the bid sheets. The high bidder is required to pay for any auction items won at the conclusion of the auction. If a high bidder does not claim and pay for an item, then at the sole discretion of the Silent Auction Chair, the prize shall be offered to the next highest bidder or the auction of that item declared void, with the item being retained by the Big Red Booster Club Board for re-auction or other use.

Miscellaneous- By participating in the draw down, all participants agree to be bound by these rules. If there is any dispute or question of interpretation, the matter shall be decided by the “ticket recorder,” whose decision shall be final and binding on all parties in all respects. By accepting a prize, winners agree that Huntsville High Big Red Panthers Football and its affiliates, employees and agents will have no liability and will be held harmless by winners for any liability, loss, injury or damage to property or person, including death, due in whole part, directly or indirectly, by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prizes or participation in the contest, even if caused or contributed by the negligence of Huntsville High Big Red Panthers Football. By participating in the draw down, winners consent to the use of their names and/or likenesses for promotional purposes, without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.

The money raised from the event will be used for capital improvements and educational enhancements for Huntsville High Big Red Panthers Football.
