What are the expectations for students participating in clinical rotations?

Attendance for Clinical Rotations:

*It is very important students are in attendance on all rotation days, unless they are sick or have a school related absence. If students will be absent, they must text/email Mrs. Smith before class or their grade will be penalized. Students with excessive absences may be removed from the program at teacher’s discretion.

*Consistently arriving late or leaving early from a rotation site will result in disciplinary action and possible dismissal from the program at the teacher’s discretion.

*Rotation schedules must be adhered to. Any student skipping a rotation or leaving their assigned rotation site, unless accompanied by an employee, will be given a 0 for that rotation, may be given a probationary period and face being released from the program at the teacher’s discretion.

*For safety reasons, students may not drive to a rotation site if they should be on the bus.

*Students may not give a ride to other students to rotation sites.

Dress Attire for Clinical Rotations: It is very important to come dressed and ready to leave at the start of class. You will not go to your clinical rotation if you are not in the following dress code when the bell rings.

Scrubs (black top and pants)—must be clean, free of wrinkles, and appropriate size

(May wear a t-shirt of a neutral color under scrubs)

Must have Summer Creek ID

Shoes must be black or white athletic shoes—all leather, no mesh.

Must have a watch with a second hand or digital

Ladies: Fake nails will NOT be allowed once clinical rotations begin.

Men: No facial hair

Cell Phone Usage:

*Cell phones (or other electronics, including ear buds) are absolutely not allowed. If a student is taken to rotation by bus, their cell phones will be locked in the classroom before leaving campus. If a student is driving to a rotation, they may take their phone, but it must stay in their car. If policy is violated, this will result in a 0 for that rotation, and a probationary period before being allowed to return to rotations. Student may be removed from program at the teacher discretion.

Discipline program:

*A student in ISS will not be allowed to attend rotations, but must still complete the packet for that rotation. The student may be removed from the program at the teacher’s discretion, based on the reason for ISS. A student who is suspended or sent to DAEP will automatically be dismissed from the program.

Behavior at Clinical Sites:

*While at clinical sites, students are representing themselves, the Health Science program, and Summer Creek High School. If they are displaying behaviors that are inappropriate, they may be disciplined according to school policies, or be removed from the program at the teacher’s discretion.
