Work Experience

Jun 2000—Present / Alphatech, Inc. / Burlington, MA

Software Engineer

Researched, specified, designed, and programmed multi-threaded collaboration software in Visual C++ to assist the Army Special Forces Mission Planning Process. A customizable, dynamic approach was developed using MFC, MySQL, and XML.

Researched, specified, designed, and programmed a reasoning engine in Visual C++ for determining optimal resource allocation and vehicle routing on a road network of arbitrary complexity. ArcView and Java were used for the GUI components.

Helped design and program a system for detecting time-critical targets from radar output Modified an existing in-house radar tracking program to display the results. Implementation was done in Linux, using C++.

Programmed a web-based interface for a knowledge extraction. JavaScript was used for the GUI, and Perl was used as a CGI back-end.

May 1998—Mar 2000 / SAGA Software / Rochester, NY

R & D Specialist

Researched, specified, designed, and programmed a low level platform-to-platform data-mapping engine in Java for inclusion into product kernel.

Researched, designed, and programmed Tn3270-E and NVT modes of a Java-based Tn3270 emulator as part of a team environment.

Designed and programmed an in-house Cobol parsing class library in Java.

Mar 1997—Aug 1997 / Blue Lobster Software / Rochester, NY

Co-op, Development

Programmed a Java API using CORBA for manipulating IBM CICS requests.

Researched, specified, designed, and programmed an HTTP server using Java.

Researched and helped program an in-house CICS client using Java and C.

Jun 1995—Aug 1995 / Bell Atlantic Directory Graphics / Valley Forge, PA

Summer Intern, Engineering Department

Performed system administration tasks on PC and VAX networks.

Used C to transform large quantities of customer data into Folio formats.

Wrote GUI applications to automate data transfer and assist production team.

Nov 1994—May 1998 / Rochester Institute of Technology / Rochester, NY

Senior Lab Assistant

Responded to student questions regarding programming languages and UNIX.

Supervised other lab assistants in the Computer Science labs.

1994—2000 / Rochester Institute of Technology / Rochester, NY
