We are looking for Higher Apprentices to join Mainline Rail Automation department, a part of the Mobility division. Mobility is supplying answers to the questions of our time: How will cities solve the problems of increasing traffic? How can railway operators increase throughput, punctuality, and security of their systems? In short, what solutions are available to avoid the looming threat of total gridlock? All the mobility-related products, solutions, and services from Siemens are bundled in the Mobility Division.

The successful candidate will complete a structured learning programme over a four year period; this could be reduced upon successful completion of various criteria. Included in this programme you will gain an understanding of the business unit; its goals, vision, services, comprising departments, customers, and supply chain. This will enable development of engineering skills, knowledge, and competence in preparation for a role within the engineering group.

What are my responsibilities?

To successfully complete all elements of a structured learning plan including:

·  Nationally-recognised engineering qualifications

·  Attend all role/performance review sessions as necessary to review progress made.

·  Work placement rotation plan

·  Take ownership and responsibility for the completion of all allocated tasks in accordance with instructions provided.

·  Develop professional competence through:-

o  Maintaining a CPD File

o  Obtaining membership of relevant Institutions, if appropriate

o  Successfully complete all training courses provided

What do I need to qualify for this job?

·  GCSE level C or above (or equivalent) in Science, Maths and English

·  ‘A’ level or BTEC National Cert (or equivalent) in a computer based subject, Maths and / or Physics.

·  Good communication skills, both written and verbal

·  Organisational and time management skills

·  IT Literate

·  Awareness of aspects of telecoms engineering relating to fixed networks

What else do I need to know?

All employees have a duty to comply with Health, Safety and Environment Procedures available on the Business Management System and to be alert in identifying potential hazards by removing or minimising them wherever possible.

Post Specific

·  Trackside Competencies - Valid PTS / LUCAS, where applicable

·  Medical Fitness Standards - Valid certificate in accordance with PTS, where applicable

·  Personal Protective Equipment - issued as necessary

·  Competence Assessment requirement

·  Manual Handling training

·  Other Health and Safety Training required for the employee to perform their duties
