Museum Box is a Web 2.0 tool which you can use to present information. You can create a cube project that includesimages, sounds, text, links, videos, andfilesto make your presentation come to life.

File types used in Museum Box:

  • Open Internet Explorer and go to

The default box has 3 layers and 8 cubes in each layer for a total of 24 cubes with 6 sides each. Can you say too much information?!? Let learn how to change the box for this project.

  • ClickChange Box
  • Select 1 Layer
  • Select 2 Boxes
  • Click Change Box
  • Click Save

  • Today we will log in with a generic account. Later we will explore how to sign up for your own account.

  • Fill in the Title and Description of the box

Note: The SOL might be a good item to include in the description

  • Click Save
  • My Draweris a place to gather all the items (images, sounds, videos, and files) that will be added to the box. Let’s explore how to add the items that we will need to My Drawer.
  • To add content to My Drawer, you must click on one of the following buttons:

Images-to add .jpg, .gif, and .png files

Text-to type information directly on a side of the cube

Sounds-to add .mp3 files or record and save a sound within Museum Box

Videos-to add .flv, .mpg, .avi, .wmv, and .mp4 files

Files-to add .doc, .pdf, .xls, and .ppt files

Links-to add websites

Search-to search for content you have added to Museum Box

Preview-to preview your box in Presentation mode

  • Click Your Images tab
  • Click Upload
  • Click Browse to locate the

image you would like to use.

  • Click Upload
  • Click Close
  • Click to select the image
  • Click Add to Drawer
  • Click Close

Note: When you upload a video file, it will have to be processed and converted into a .flv file. You will receive a message that the video is being processed. You will receive a message in your

“message center” when the video is ready and in your My Videos center. It may be added to the Drawer.

  • Newto start a new Museum Box
  • Saveto save the Museum Box
  • Loadto open a Museum Box you have previously saved
  • Submitto submit a completed Museum Box for approval
  • Messagesto read any messages from Museum Box or an Museum Box administrator
  • Helpclick on Help and roll over the screen to receive help information
  • Exitto exit Museum Box Creator

Search for Published Boxes

  • Go to the main Museum Box page
  • Click on Museum Boxes
  • You may search by the school by typing the school name in the Search box and click on Find School. All the approved boxes for that school will be listed.
  • You can also click on the letter to search for schools.

Tips and Tricks for using Museum Box

  • Save early and save often because the box may close unexpectedly. Better to be safe than sorry.
  • There is no limit to the amount of student accounts that a teacher may create using a teacher login.
  • Make sure that all the video, images and content of the box copyright friendly. Once the box is approved, it will be available online for anyone to see.
  • You have 14 days from when you submit boxes to review them before they are marked for review by E2BN administrators.
