PACE OF PLAY
WGANC IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE PACE OF PLAY
To help make our WGANC events more enjoyable for all players, we will be monitoring the pace of play. Should a group be out of position, it will be brought to the players’ attention. The group will be timed. If warranted, one or more players may be penalized for undue delay in accordance with USGA
Rule 6-7 notes 1 and 2.
Refer to the “Time to Finish” line on your official WGANC scorecard. This will tell you the time you should be finishing each hole. Remember to be ready to play. If your group is behind play ready golf.
PENALTY
STROKE PLAY MATCH PLAY
1st Offense – warning 1st Offense – loss of hole
2nd Offense – one stroke
Repeated Offense – two stroke penalty
To avoid using this procedure, the Committee asks that you:
§ Be aware of the group in front of you. Look ahead, not behind.
§ Think about your next shot as you go to your ball.
§ Take several clubs with you: the one you think you will use, plus others you might use.
§ Drive the cart as a team. While one player walks to her ball, the other player drives up the path opposite her ball. Do not wait for a player to return to the cart before proceeding to the next ball.
§ In stroke play, if safe and not interfering, playing out of turn is permissible (USGA Decision 10-2c/2).
§ The first player whose ball is on the green should drive the cart to the appropriate position as far behind the green as is reasonable, toward the next tee.
§ Study your line of putt while others are preparing to putt. Do not wait until it is your turn to start looking at your putt.
§ When you leave the green, immediately drive to the next tee. Do not put away your clubs until at the next tee, and do not write down your scores until you have arrived at the next tee. Make faster “transitions” between greens and tees.
Slow play is a result of bad habits that waste time. As a WGANC member you should set a standard of excellence that will be followed. In advance we thank each of you for maintaining a reasonable pace of play and remaining in position within the field.
THANK YOU AND ENJOY YOUR GOLF!!!!
