10/5/18Westchester Dolphins Swim Team 2012

Welcome to the 2012 Bayou Swim League, Westchester Dolphins Swim Team!! As we look forward to our new season, we can look back with a lot of pride at the development of our program and our accomplishments. This has been achieved through the hard work of the countless people who have volunteered their time, talents, and energy to the Swim League over the years. In order for parents to carry on the tradition, let’s all commit to offering our personal best in establishing an example for our children. Parents and children should:

  1. Be Positive in your comments toward the Bayou Swim League, Westchester Swim Team and all volunteers. Volunteer your services to improve shortfalls.
  2. Demonstrate recognition of the effort expended by volunteer personnel by refraining from unsportsmanlike conduct.
  3. Know that the core values of swim team lean as much toward character building as athletic development.
  4. Recognize that the swimmers are children, not professional athletes, and they need encouragement, not criticism.
  5. Applaud good swims and ignore errors. The coaches will deal with errors at the appropriate time.
  6. Encourage a greater effort, initiative and hustle. Congratulate the winner, encourage the loser.
  7. Above all, be positive and contribute your share with a smile. Be a role model—we can all use one from time to time.

The Westchester Dolphins Swim Team is truly a tradition in our neighborhood. The Swim Team provides an opportunity for our kids and their families to work and play together in a common effort to achieve. The team has been the source ofmany new and enduring friendships among kids and parents alike. Please keep this in mind when you are called on to contribute to keeping the swim team a strong and positive experience for us all. To those of you who are returning to the Dolphins for

another season, we are delighted to have you back! To those of you who are new, we’re so excited that you decided to join us.

We welcome all constructive comments and, even more, your patient and enthusiastic volunteer spirit. If you have any question, comments, or concerns please contact your team reps:

The Bayou Swim League Zero Tolerance Policy

The Bayou Swim League has adopted a “Zero Tolerance” policy to be enforced during all sponsored events.

The Bayou Swim League (BSL) and its facilities and properties exist to provide all athletes with opportunities to participate in sport and other recreational activities in a safe and positive environment. BSL will ensure the most supportive climate possible for the children who participate, so that they can enjoy their sport and learn about competition, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play.

As with many athletic teams, BSL is managed and operated by volunteers. It is the BSL’s responsibility that they, too, have the ability to work in a safe and positive environment.

It is critical for the BSL, through its parents, reps, and coaches, to do all things necessary to ensure that measures are in place so that incidents of violent or inappropriate behavior do not occur in its recreational properties and facilities.

Included in this commitment is an understanding of that responsibility for the behavior of everyone associated with the BSL, including, but not limited to players, officials, and spectators.

Goals of the Policy

To reduce or eliminate violence and abusive behavior at the BSL’s recreational properties and facilities.

To promote positive cheering behaviors among spectators and fans.

To increase the level of understanding among spectators and fans of the importance of creating a positive and supportive environment for children's sport.

Definition of Violence

The focus of this Policy is on the behavior of players and non-players. For the purposes of this Policy, violence includes, but is not limited to, the following behaviors:

·loud verbal assaults

·threats and attempts to intimidate

·throwing of articles in a deliberate or aggressive manner

·aggressive approaches to another individual

·physical striking of another individual

·attempts to goad or incite violence in others

·vandalism to building or property

·racial or ethnic slurs and

·Illegal consumption of alcohol or drugs.

The Consequences

Individuals who engage in any of the above behaviors will be subject to immediate ejection from the property or facility and a hearing with representatives to be chosen by the current BSL Reps. Those individuals who are identified and suspended in accordance with this Policy shall further be prohibited from holding any positions within the Bayou Swim League for a period to be determined by the current BSL Reps.

Incidents may be reported to the Police Department for possible criminal charges.

Where vandalism has been perpetrated, not only will the individuals responsible be subject to suspension as outlined above, but they also will be required to reimburse the BSL for the cost of repair.

We the undersigned, agree to abide by the Bayou Swim League “Zero Tolerance Policy:”
