Westchester is dedicated to becoming the keystone to developing successful students.

I. Description of Scholarship Program

The PTO Westchester Intermediate Scholarship Fund has been established as an award for a former Westchester Intermediate student who is a graduating senior from Chesterton High School.

II. Criteria for Selection

Applicant must have attended Westchester Intermediate School for 5th and 6th grade, have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA at CHS, complete the application using proper spelling and grammar, include two recommendations from a former employer, teacher or community member, and plan to attend an accredited college, university or technical school the year immediately following graduation.

III. Distribution and Deadline

  • Scholarship applications are available in the Career Center at Chesterton High School beginning Monday, March 5, 2018.
  • Applications are due by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 and should be turned in to the College & Career Center.

The scholarship will be presented to the recipient at the Chesterton High School awards program by a Westchester Intermediate PTO Board member. Payment will be made to the educational institution with exceptions at the discretion of the PTO Board.

IV. Selection Process

The Westchester Intermediate PTO Scholarship recipient will be selected by members of the PTO Board and WIS staff after all of the applications meeting the criteria have been reviewed.

Westchester Intermediate PTO will award a monetary scholarship of $1000 to a Chesterton High School senior who is a former Westchester Intermediate student.

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1.Have attended Westchester Intermediate School for 5th and 6th grade

2. Have at least a 2.5 GPA at CHS

3. Plan to attend an accredited college, university or technical school the school year immediately following graduation

4.Demonstrate good citizenship
