Newsletter 2nd March 2011

Welcome to this week’s newsletter.

The ‘new look’ LINC got off to a great start last Thursday night with a huge attendance by the LGBT community, family, friends and neighbours. Thanks again to everyone who helped to make this event happen and a big thank you to Pixie Lols for their wonderful performance. We’ll definitely be seeing more of them!!

We hope you’ve already checked out the new and vibrant LINC website. There’s much more to be added and again, we welcome any suggestions and information to insert.

We’re happy to acknowledge that volunteers have come forward to give a hand with lesbian line, steering group and the youth group but we have space for a few more so don’t be shy… get involved!

Unfortunately, Red was unable to join us last Thursday night due to illness. We would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her community development work in LINC over the past nine months and wish her the best of luck going forward.

International Women’s Day 8th March 2011

Come and celebrate the 100th International Women’s Day in LINC from 11am – 3pm next Tuesday March 8th. Coffee and homemade goodies available.

Archive material will be on view as well as a trip down memory lane with photo sharing. So if you have some photos to share from the past, bring them in.

All Welcome!!

Every Little Helps!!

This week we are attaching the donation standing order. Just think, if we had 50 contributions of just €5 per month, it amounts to €3,000 annually. These monies would make a significant and positive could be used for social events, peer support groups and other community events. Over the past year, donations reached over €1,500 which has been a great source of funding towards programme costs and renovating your community centre. Funding for the community and voluntary sector has been seriously affected over the past two years and your help is very much appreciated

Creative Writing Classes

at LINC is on Mondays 7-9pm.

We spend a large part of everyday listening to stories, telling stories, reading stories and watching stories...but how many of these stories truly capture your experience of life?

Wouldn't you love if more of the stories you encountered told a tale similar to yours...about falling in love with a woman, coming out to your family and friends, leaving a heterosexual marriage to follow your heart, raising children with another woman, transitioning from one gender to another?

Maybe it's time you told your story.

Classes will be informal and interactive in a relaxed space.

All Welcome.

In 2011, LINC hope to publish a book of Coming Out stories. These writing classes are the perfect place to start for anyone who feels she has a story to tell.
