Job Summary

Supports the daily processing of financial aid applications and awards. In partnership with the Director, Financial Aid,facilitates financial aid-related processes by providing quality assurance, troubleshooting, and error resolution. This includes, but is not limited to, the automated processing of financial aid applications, award packaging, disbursement, and reconciliation of federal funds. Supports customer service and financial aid processing staff in the use of BANNER in an effort to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial aid operations. In partnership with the Registrar, serves as a consultant to the Records office.

Job Duties

  • Reviews and develops processes for new award years, ensuring necessary changes are made to accommodate current federal financial aid regulations.
  • Shares financial aid functionality set up and maintenance duties with the Director, Financial Aid.
  • Researches, tests, and implements new and modified financial aid BANNER functionality.
  • Runs batch processes related to application receipt/download and verification, awarding, disbursement and file exchange with external partners.
  • Assists Director, Financial Aid with download and satisfactory academic progress (SAP) end-of-semester processes.
  • Monitors student class schedules and academic plans for adherence to federal financial aid and FA probation requirements.
  • Runs repeated and remedial coursework queries, adjusts aid, and communicates with impacted students.
  • Creates and updates student data reports. Utilizes the Data Warehouse, PS queries and other tools in the retrieval, analysis and reporting of this data.
  • In coordination with the Director, Financial Aid and IT, implements and maintains BANNER for Financial Aid use.
  • Provides technical support to Financial Aid processing and customer service staff and assists in troubleshooting processing issues.
  • Develops end user process documentation and training materials in coordination with the Director, Financial Aid. Trains Financial Aid and Enrollment Management team members, as needed.
  • Collaborates with Marketing to develop and maintain Financial Aid and Scholarship web pages.
  • Attends professional development conferences, seminars, workshops, and webinars to stay abreast of current regulations, trends, and best practices in the student financial aid profession.
  • Actively supports and participates in Enrollment Management Team cross-training model.
  • Assists Director, Financial Aid with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Three or more years of Information Technology related experience in a higher education setting required. Knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to student institutional records and federal financial aid required. Experience developing procedural documentation and training materials preferred. Experience facilitating group and individual end user training for employees with varying technology skill levels highly preferred. Proficiency with MS Office products and student information systems (preferably BANNER Campus Wide Information System). Experience with financial aid-related web systems (SAIG, COD, NSLDS, Access) preferred.
