Welcome to the Ship Repair Industry!

The Virginia Ship Repair Association’s 190+ members are proud to join together in an effort to develop a strong, qualified workforce. If you decide on a career in ship repair you will be joining more than 36,000 professionals who ensure the safe overseas travel and maneuvers for military and civilian passengers. You will also be a part of the most advanced, and strongest, naval contingent in the world. Your contributions will be a source of pride and personal achievement.

The equipment grant program is designed to give new ship repair trade professionals support in developing their career and getting a good start by supplementing their ownership of high quality tools. The tools grant is awarded in the form of a $500.00 voucher to be used at a VSRF approved supplier. The criteria for awards are as follows:

  • Employment in a trade related position at a VSRA member company within six months of graduating from a designated trade training program.*
  • Submission of the application and career plan signed by the hiring company
  • Reviewed and awarded by the Virginia Ship Repair Foundation Board in March, July and November each year. One award will be given each review period.

We look forward to reviewing your application and encourage you to look into the many wonderful trade career opportunities available in ship repair in the Hampton Roads region.

Sincerely,

Frank Jemmison

Chairman
