Welcome to Room L-2!

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! My name is Jenna Klepper and along with my three instructional aides, Christina, Kat, and Denise, we will be teaching your child this year! Based on your child’s IEP, he/she may also work with one of our Speech-Language Therapist, Kylie or Cindy; Adapted Physical Education, Katy, our Physical Therapist, Susan, and/or our Occupational Therapist, Melissa, and her dog, Mr. T. Each and every one of us is looking forward to a wonderful school year with your child!

It is hard to believe how quickly the summer went! School will be starting thisMonday, August 29!

Our instructional hours are from8:15am to 12:15pm. Drop off will start at 8:10am and pick up will begin around 12:05pm.We ask that you make arrangements to pick up your child by 12:15pm.

Please use a designated “visitor” parking spot, street parking, or the very back circle of the parking lot during pick up and drop off; we areneverallowed to park in the red.An adult will meet you and your child at the double gates at the front of the school for both pick up and drop off every day. For late arrivals and early pick-ups, you will need to check your child in with the administrative assistant in P-2.

I have included a welcome packet with this letter, including lots of valuable information regarding out policies and procedures. Please return the video permission slip, reinforce survey, authorization of exchange of information, allergy action plan, allergy checklist, and contact information to me by Friday, September 2.

All of this information will also be posted, on our classroom's website:

Each day, I will send home a daily communication log. Please initial or sign it and return it with your child every day. I read them every morning so if you have any questions or comments, feel free to write it in the communication log and I can respond accordingly.

Please send in 2 extra changes of clothes, to be kept at school, including: socks, underwear, shirts, and pants. We do a lot of fun activities here and sometimes we get a little messy! J

As part of our toilet-training routine, we will be making frequent trips to the bathroom. If your child is still working toward being toilet-trained, please be sure to include more than enough diapers or pull-ups, along with wipes, for us to use in case your child’s diaper is soiled. (We make up to 6 trips a day until they are toilet-trained!)

In addition, if your child is not yet toilet trained, please send in an edible reinforcer that will only be given to your child if they go to the bathroom in the toilet. It would have to be something highly motivating to them (e.g. marshmallows, M&Ms, skittles, cheetoes, etc…) that will only get when they successfully use the bathroom. (This of course can still be used at home if they use the toilet at home! J)

Each school day, we will eat snack and lunch. We do have children with allergies, so we are a PEANUT-FREE school. A great alternative to PBJ is sunflower seed butter. Please keep this in mind when packing your child’s snack and lunch J

Each week, I will post a weekly newsletter to our classroom website. In this newsletter, I will include theme(s) for the month, colors, shapes, numbers, letters, and vocabulary words that we will be covering during that time. If we have any special events coming up or if anything needs to be sent in, I will include it in the newsletter.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at any of the ways listed below. I will respond to phone calls and e-mails after the children leave for the day.

I look forward to a school year filled with learning experiences, challenges, and successes for all of us. Thank you for the opportunity to teach your child.

All my best,

Jenna Klepper
