Welcome to Bellevue East High School – home of the Chieftains. Bellevue East is home to approximately 1600 students of diverse backgrounds that add a unique element to the school environment and embrace each other for who they are and what they aspire to become. More importantly, each student that walks through the doors at East has their own set of goals, challenges and triumphs that are included in their story as they make their way through four (sometimes more) of the most important years of their life.

When you choose to attend Bellevue East High School you are choosing a staff that will treat each kid individually and with respect. A large number of the teachers in the building take the initiative in building personal relationships with the student and their family. They establish open lines of communication and are accessible for students both during class and outside of their duty time. The one quality that stands out with staff members at East is that they inspire students to give more than they thought they could – it has happened time and again regardless of grade or class, teachers such as Lance Raabe, Cathy Hansen, Sara Fjell, Ashley Bender, Piper Porras, Bill Steele, Toby Higgs, Brent Gehring and many more have displayed the unselfishness and sacrifice that wears off on their students and produces results that students did not know they were capable of at this time in their life.

Being a Chieftain does have its challenges & you are held to high expectations. However, it beats the alternative(s) and once you become part of the “family” at East you will be given many chances to prove yourself and earn the trust and respect that comes with being family. What does it take to be a Chieftain? Courage, loyalty, persistence, perseverance, honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, & patience are important qualities, but the most important quality of a Chieftain is PRIDE. Pride in what you do, Pride in what your school is doing, Pride in how you treat people & Pride in doing the right thing on a daily basis. If you do not have PRIDE you will not survive in Chieftain Nation.

The perception at times is that Bellevue East is not “good enough” or does not “succeed” to the degree that other schools do and that is flat out wrong. Achievement, success and celebrations are an integral part of the environment at Bellevue East High School & it happens on a daily basis. At a time when failure and tragedy garner more headlines than championships and passing grades Bellevue East continues to move forward in a positive direction.

So, accept the challenge – become part of Chieftain Nation. The winds are changing and Bellevue East is on the rise. Be part of the success story on the hill and wear your purple, silver and white proudly. Fight on East, Fight on.
