Mrs Panther’s Class Page
Welcome back to the first half of Summer Term 2016.
We hope you all had a wonderful Easter.
RE:
Our Gospel Value theme is: Truthfulness
We will complete our lessons from our ‘Bible Explorer’ visitor on the Old Testament.
Unit: Exploring the lives of significant women in the Old Testament.
What can I learn from this story?
Why is this a significant moment? Why is this woman important?
In which values and beliefs are the actions of the women rooted?
Did she do the right thing?
Topic:
‘Spaced Out’
This term promises to be out of this world! In our creative curriculum we are ‘Spaced Out’ and investigating all about our solar system and Earth’s place in it.
Our Key Questions will be:
- What do we know about the Earth, Sun and Moon?
- How do the Earth, Sun and Moon fit within our solar system?
- How do we get day and night?
- What do we know about the shape and movement of the Earth?
- Why does the moon appear to change shape?
- How do shadows, created by the sun, change during a day?
How were shadows used in the past to help people tell the time?

House Points, Star of the Week, Class rewards such as Reading Points, Golden Tickets, Listening Stars and Golden Time
I also hope you will support us in reinforcing our class rules, which we wrote together and agreed as a class because this will make our class a happy and productive place to be.
Year 5 Our Class Rules
1) We will try to be happy and thankful.
2) We will walk calmly around the school and classroom and stay safe.
3) We will be helpful and think of others before ourselves.
4) We will show respect at all times to other people and their property.
5) We will let others join in and be sharing and caring.
We have a new Golden Time system in class to help us keep our classroom rules. At the start of the week each child will have 30 minutes Golden Time. Anyone who breaks our classroom rules will unfortunately lose Golden Time minutes and the time lost will increase if the negative behavior continues. All the children respecting the classroom rules will be rewarded with their Golden Time each week on a Friday, when we will be choosing from a variety of activities such as: playing board games;playing cards;outdoor games; ICT time; craft activities etc.

I would welcome you to help your child and work together on the projects, where necessary and the children will then share their ‘Projects’ with the rest of the class once they are completed.
And finally …
I consider the education of your child a partnership between myself and you. Please contact me, if you have any worries or concerns.
