PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS

Programs That Teach / Programs for Leaders / Programs That Create / Programs That Move
Book Club:Book Club is a drop-in program that will occur one day a week and focus on improving confidence in reading and understanding the narrative structure of books. Each week a new theme will be chosen and the kids will complete a variety of activities that will help them build their confidence in reading and understanding the chosen genre. / True StrengthGear up Boys, because this program is for you! Boys will learn what it takes to balance physical activity and nutrition in their young lives. They will also learn how to treat themselves, girls, and adults in a positive, uplifting way! / Cooking Club: Cooking club explores a combination of sweet and health snack preparation. Youth will work in a group atmosphere and will develop valuable life skills. / Rugby: all-star Rugby player/coach Tamara teaches some of the fundamental skill sets to being a great Rugby player. Do not worry there is no tackling.
Jump Math A,B, and C:An exciting, interactive program that enhances math skills along the Alberta curriculum. There are three levels based on grade level so that every youth can dive into math whether it is doing basic addition, establishing patterns, or multiplying like a pro! / Go GirlsCalling all girls! Are you ready to boost your self-esteem and overall health? This program aims to teach girls about their bodies and all the different forms of beauty. By staying active and living balanced, girls will see the little things they can do to stay healthy and happy! / Culture Club: This program aims to introduce club children to a variety of different and unique cultures from around the world. One main goal of the Culture Club is to engage children and youth in human rights learning and to teach the importance of acceptance among different cultures. / This Is How We Move:This program takes physical literacy to a whole new level. The games we play will work on fundamental movement, teamwork and fair play.
Power up: Power up is a drop-in program that will provide a designated time for kids of all ages to complete their homework, while receiving support and mentorship from staff. Those who do not have homework will participate in academic based games. / Torch Club: This is your time to shine! This club allows our youth to gain leadership skills as they work together to make a difference in their community. They will learn that their voice matters and they will be able to put their thoughts into action. Who knows, maybe we have a future Prime Minister in this club! / Art Club: This exclusive club allows selected club members to explore a variety of mediums to create their own artistic creations each week while learning about the history behind the art.
Cartoon Club: Cartoon club allows us to jump into a different world full of cartoon characters as the youth read exciting, action-filled comic books. The youth will also get the opportunity to make their very own cartoon! / Intramurals:Intramurals are done throughout all of our Boys and Girls Clubs in Edmonton. Each club builds their own skills individually and then come together to duke it out at an exciting, high energy night where a trophy is given out to the victor.

Creative Writing Club: Creative writing club is a program that is designed to help youth develop their writing skills in an exciting way! The youth will be given a different subject each week that they will write on. Once they are done writing their paragraph, stories or poems they then draw a picture to go with it. After everyone is done, the youth are given the chance to present their work to everyone. / Teen Night Teen nights are for ages 13 and older. Teen nights provide an atmosphere for developmental likeness affording the opportunity for competitive play, advanced art, and cooking, and an opportunity to drive programs in a leadership capacity.
Zones of Regulation: This program will help youth recognize their feelings and self-regulate their feelings. It gives the youth strategies to get them ready to learn and listen. The skills learned in this program are transferable to all areas of their life. Plus, we are going to watch the movie Inside Out to help us discover how our brain works! / Life Skills: This program will explore skills that youth need to be successful no matter where they are, whether it is building friendships, working a job, or interacting with their family. / Between The Lines: This is an exciting coloring club. Youth will be able to learn the skills of coloring in the lines, shading, and how to make your piece of art stand out. We will have a beautiful art gallery to display our masterpieces!
