Rental is only for St. George and St. Anthony Church members

To make your stay as comfortable as possible, please read and follow the information below. Contact one of the listed servants if you have any questions.

Driving Tips:

1- In the winter we recommend a car with winter tires and best if it is 4X4.

2- In good weather the drive will take you 50 minutes leaving from St. George church in Ottawa but it can take you up to 75 minutes in rush hours or bad weather.

3- Do not speed up on Hwy 307 or Fort, it could be dangerous, also make sure that you stay in your lane and do not drive in the middle of the road neither on the shoulders, shoulders has ditches that is covered in snow in the winter, the speed limit on Hwy 307 changes from 60Km to 70 to 90 to 80 Km.

4- Fort road will take you a good 15 minutes of driving, do not speed and focus on the road.

5- Always keep a foldable shovel in the trunk of your car during the winter season.

How do you get to the cottage from St. George and St. Anthony Church and what do I find in my way to the cottage:

Before you leave the church you must set your odometer on zero for easy location of these places.

1- (0 km) Start with a prayer.

2- Turn left on Cadboro.

3- Turn right on Ogilvie.

4- Turn left on St. Laurent

5- (2.0 km) Take 417 West

6- Take Exit King Edward/MANN street

7- Continue on King Edward till you cross the McDonald Cartier Bridge.

8- (9.5 km) Take 2nd exit 50 East (it also reads Gatineau Montreal, 148 Est)

9- Take exit 138 / St. Louis/Hwy 307 (it is the 1st exit you see)

10- (12.5 km) Take right to take Hwy 307 North St. Louis, Continue on Hwy 307 North

11- Continue on Hwy 307 north (for 29 km)

12- (41.5 km) turn left on FORT

13- Continue on FORT (for 10 km)

14- (51.5 km) you will find 979 FORT on your right.

What you will see on this road:

At the 12.5 Km from the church you will find a major shopping outlet.

At the 20th km from the church you will find a major intersection that has, Tim Hortons, McDonalds, subway, Quiznoz, Pizza, Gas stations, Jean Coutu, if you continue on Hwy 307 for 800 meters more you will find Metro store.

At the 27th km from the Church, you will find road to Mont Cascade on your left.

At the 34th km from the Church you will find road to Edelweiss on your left.

At the 35.5 Km from the church you will find entrance to Arial Park adventure on your left.

INTRODUCTION TO THE COTTAGE

We hope you enjoy your visit to the cottage. To make your stay here enjoyable and safe, there are a few rules and guidelines that must be adhered to. These are outlined in this document. We have included places of interest to visit and directions to get there.

In rural areas, interruptions to the electrical power supply occur and may last a little longer than in the city. Also, remember that the water system operates on an electrical pump. Therefore, do not run the water when the power is off.

The cottage uses a private drilled well. The water is safe and has a very good taste however guests might wish to bring up their own drinking water.

The cottage operates on a septic system. The location of the septic bed is marked. Please do not allow excessive play on the septic bed. Please do not drive over or park any vehicles on the septic bed.

Insects such as mosquitoes, black-flies etc are in abundance at the cottage. Guest should bring insect repellant.

Life jackets are available at the cottage however you may wish to bring your own as there may not be enough for everyone.

Blankets and pillows are available at the cottage, please do not remove from the cottage, you may wish to bring you own linens and bath towel.

You will find a clean mattress and pillow cover ready in the closets.

No excessive noise is allowed at any time. Quiet time must be observed between the hours of 10:00pm and 7:00am.

The cottage is equipped with a TV / DVD system in the family room. Servants should bring their own movies to watch. TV programming is not available. During thunder and lightning storms, please unplug TV and DVD player.

Do not walk on the lake in the winter.

The cottage comfortably sleeps 17 people on beds plus room for 8 more on 3” thick foam mattress; we also supply pillows and blankets for all the 25 guests.

Servants should remind the kids to call their parents from the cottage phone once they make it to the cottage; also Servants should give the cottage phone number (819-457-4827) to the parents.

NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOURS:

We realize you are on vacation and you want to have a good time, but just bear in mind that the people living on both sides of you are living in their own homes and they may have to get up the next day and go to work. Please keep the noise down late at night so other people can sleep. Totally extinguish the fire pit before retiring for the evening. The neighbours are friendly people and welcome you to our neighbourhood, but they are like anyone else, they will respond to you as you respond to them. We would suggest you say hello and introduce yourself when you see them outside.

ENERGY CONSERVATION:

Please help us conserve energy by:

  • Turning off lights when not in use.
  • Turning down thermostat when windows are open or you leave.
  • Turning off Air condition when you leave.
  • Closing windows when you are out for the day.

GAMES AVAILABLE AT THE :

  • Arcade machine that has 100 games built in, good for 2 players at the same time.
  • TV that is dedicated to hook up a game machine to it.
  • Nintendo Wii with 2 controllers.
  • Ping Pong Table and 4 rackets.
  • Air Hockey table.
  • Other games.

COTTAGE SUPPLIES:

The cottage comes equipped with the following:

  • Refrigerator, range, oven, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, plates, bowls, glassware, coffee mugs, pots, pans, and cooking and eating utensils
  • BBQ grill for outside use
  • Paper towels and cloth dish towels
  • Bar soap for bathing and pump soap for hand washing
  • Oil, salt, pepper, spices, sugar, coffee mate, instant coffee and more.
  • If you find food and drinks at the cottage, please take as much as you need, it is for you.

GENERAL RULES

  1. GUESTS MUST BE RESPECTFUL OF THE COTTAGE AND ITS PROPERTY. DO NOT DAMAGE OR CUT TREES IN ANY WAY.
  2. SMKING and ALCOHOL IS NOT PERMITTED.
  3. Check in time is 2:00M and Check out is noon.
  4. Pets are not allowed.
  5. FIRES ARE ONLY PERMITTED IN THE DESIGNATED FIRE PIT AND ALL FIRES MUST BE UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF A PERSON 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER. DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN TO PLAY IN OR AROUND THE FIRE.CLOSED TOE SHOES MUST BE WORN AROUND THE FIRE – NO SANDALS.
  6. FIRES MUST BE PUT OUT COMPLETELY WHEN RETIRING FOR THE NIGHT OR LEAVING THE COTTAGE. PLEASE USE WATER FROM THE LAKE TO ENSURE THE FIRE IS COMPLETELY OUT.
  7. NO CANDLES OR OPEN FLAMES ARE ALLOWED INSIDE THE COTTAGE EXCEPT FOR LITURGY SERVICE.
  8. DO NOT FEED DUCKS OR WATER ANIMALS.
  9. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS ARE LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE. PLEASE MAKE YOURSELF FAMILIAR WITH THEIR LOCATIONS.
  10. YOU ARE PERMITTED TO WEAR YOUR DRY RUNNING SHOWS INSIDE THE COTTAGE, COTTAGE FLOOR IS ALL CERAMICS OR LAMINATE.

IN CASE OF POWER FAILURE, FLASHLIGHTS ARE LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE. PLEASE MAKE YOURSELF FAMILIAR WITH THEIR LOCATIONS

MAINTENANCE RULES

  1. PLEASE CLEAN UP AND LEAVE THE COTTAGE IN THE SAME CONDITION IN WHICH YOU FOUND IT.
  2. ALL GARBAGE AND RECYCLING MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE COTTAGE AND TAKEN WITH YOU WHEN YOU LEAVE OR LEAVE IT IN THE GARAGE. DO NOT LEAVE GARBAGE OUTSIDE AT ANY TIME – THIS WILL ATTRACT UNWANTED ANIMALS.
  3. DO NOT LEAVE PERISHABLES IN THE FRIDGE – PLEASE TAKE THEM WITH YOU WHEN YOU LEAVE.
  4. DO NOT FLUSH DIAPERS, SANITARY PRODUCTS OR FEMININE PRODUCTS, KLEENEX, PAPER TOWELS OR ANY OTHER FOREIGN OBJECT DOWN THE TOILETS; it will damage the Septic system.
  5. DO NOT DUMP GREASE, OIL OR ANY CHEMICAL DOWN THE SINK OR IN THE TOILET; it will damage the septic system.
  6. PROPANE BARBECUE MUST BE LEFT IN CLEAN AND FUNCTIONAL CONDITION.

BOAT AND WATER SAFETY RULES

  1. Boat is only available between May 10th and September 15th, please read rules below,
  2. ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT 16 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER WHEN SWIMMING OR PLAYING NEAR THE WATER.
  3. ENSURE THAT LIFE JACKETS FIT PROPERLY.
  4. WEAK SWIMMERS INFANTS SHOULD WEAR A LIFEJACKET AT ALL TIMES WHEN AROUND THE WATER.
  5. LIFE JACKETS MUST BE WORN BY EVERYONE WHEN IN THE BOAT.
  6. ONLY PERSONS 18 YEARS OR OLDER WITH A BOATING CERTIFICATE ARE ALLOWED TO OPERATE THE BOAT.
  7. NO SWIMMING OR JUMPING FROM THE BOAT IS ALLOWED.

BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE COTTAGE:

We rely on you, our guests, to provide basic upkeep. Before you leave, please take care to:

  • Check all drawers, closets, and under furniture to ensure you are not leaving something behind
  • Clean up and wipe down kitchen surfaces—dining room table, countertops, range, plus refrigerator and oven if there have been spills
  • Strip beds but leave mattress pad on; place sheets and towels in separate piles on top of washer and dryer
  • Wash, dry, and put away all dishes, etc.; empty coffee maker filter basket
  • Turn off all lights and check that faucets are off and toilets are not running
  • Turn thermostat down to 16 but never switch to off position, if you do not know how to turn it down, leave it as is.
  • Report any accidental damage or maintenance concerns by leaving note on the kitchen table.
