Dear Editor,

We want to thank your listeners/readers and everyone who took part and donated to CLIC Sargent’s Big Bucket Collection 2014 at (insert venue) on (insert date).

We enjoyed ourselves (dressing up in fancy dress/singing together/insert details of anything else you did while collecting).

The collection raised £XXXXXX which will be used to help children, young people and their families who are coping with cancer.Raising £230 is enough to pay for a family to stay in a CLIC Sargent Home from Home for a week, close to where their child is receiving cancer treatment. Raising £1,000 could pay for a CLIC Sargent grant for six families. Cancer can have a huge effect on a family’s finances and a CLIC Sargent grant is offered to children and young people with cancer, and their families, as soon as they come into contact with us to help meet the sudden extra costs that a cancer diagnosis can bring.

This year’s Big Bucket Collection was held during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. We want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated locally. Our target overall is to raise £150,000, which will help us to provide emotional, financial and clinical support for children, young people and their families.

CLIC Sargent do all they can to helpbut right now they can only support two out of three children and young people coping with cancer, and that’s why the money that local volunteershelp to raise is so important.

You can still donate by going to my online fundraising page (insert details) or at CLIC Sargent’s Virtual Collection page

Thank you for your support.

(attach a photo of you and your bucketeers and end the letter with your full name).

About childhood cancer

Every day, 10 children and young people in the UK hear the shocking news they have cancer. Treatment normally starts immediately, is often given many miles from home and can last for up to three years. Although survival rates are over 80%, cancer remains the single largest cause of death from disease in children and young people in the UK.

About CLIC Sargent

CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. We provide clinical, practical and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life. For more information visit

About Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

This year Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is moving from December to September – in line with countries around the world including Northern Ireland, America, Canada and Australia – so we can join together to make it a truly global campaign.

During September, CLIC Sargent will be highlighting the impact of childhood cancer with a variety of activities, and one of the central activities will be Big Bucket Collections across the UK.
