Montessori Mustang News November

We had a great trip to Charles Towne Landing last week. All of the third graders and some second graders went on a history tour. We learned that Indians occupied the land before the English arrived, how the English defended themselves, explored a common house, tried the stocks and held fiddler crabs. The best part of the history tour was the boat. Each student was able to use the tiller.

All of the students went to the zoo at Charles Towne Landing. We were able to see the types of animals that inhabited South Carolina when the English first arrived. The first and some second grade students also toured most of the grounds while on the field trip.

Mayor Summey and Police Chief Driggers came to speak to the whole school. Our peace ambassadors were able to ask them questions and get answers from the mayor and police chief. It was a really neat experience.

The children enjoy eating snack every day. Please remember to send in snack for the weeks you signed up. If you have not signed up please let me know when you are able to provide snack. Snacks should be healthy and not sugary. Some ideas are goldfish, cheerios, pretzels etc. Thank you for providing snacks for the children.

Please remember to have your child complete both spelling and reading homework Monday–Thursday. Third

graders have vocabulary, reading and social studies. Directions are posted in the front and back cover of the HW composition book
