Jeffrey I. Slonim
Jeffrey I. Slonim was the General Counsel of the Fashion Institute of Technology (1998-2011), where he also served as Secretary of the College. Previously, he was an Assistant New York State Attorney General (1979-1998), defending litigation against state agencies and officers in state and federal courts. The Attorney General appointed him chief of the section representing CUNY, SUNY and the State Education Department from 1986 to 1998. Mr. Slonim was associated with a private general-practice firm from 1975 to 1979.
Mr. Slonim has a J.D. with honors from The George Washington University, where he was managing editor of the law review, and a B.S. in mathematics, cum laude, from SUNY at Stony Brook. He is admitted in New York State and various federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. He is the author of “Employment Discrimination in Higher Education: A Survey of the Case Law from 2001", 29 J. College & Univ. L. 327-57 (2003) [in “Higher Education and the Courts: 2001 in Review”].
Mr. Slonim currently serves part time as a hearing officer with the Health Tribunal of the NYC Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings. He serves as a volunteer mediator for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, where his practice focuses on employment-related cases. Ann H. Franke
Ms. Franke works with colleges and universities nationally to

Ms. Franke has rich expertise in analyzing campus risks. She has authored national reports on diverse subjects including transportation safety, faculty retirement, tenure processes, and faculty disabilities. Ms. Franke is sought-after as a speaker, commentator, and author. She has been quoted in media including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Boston Globe, Washington Post, CNN, USA Today, Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Education, and BBC and CBS radio.
Ms. Franke has held senior management positions with United Educators Insurance (1997-2005) and the American Association of University Professors, where she earned tenure (1982-1997). During a sabbatical from AAUP, she studied the development of Australian private universities under a Fulbright senior scholar award. She is a Fellow of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and a recipient of the national Facilitator Award from the Stetson University College of Law. She earned her bachelor’s (magna cum laude, general honors), master’s, and law degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s of laws from Georgetown University.
