We are looking for a Cytotechnologist who would be willing to come to Switzerland to join a small Cytology team in our Department of Pathology in the Cantonal Hospital Aarau located in the heartland of Switzerland.

Our Hospital is a major non academic teaching hospital with about 700 beds. All medical and surgical specialties are represented including Neurosurgery, except for heart surgery and organ transplantation. ThePathologyDepartmentcovers the needs of thehospital and that ofprivate physicians and smaller public hospitals in the region. We have about 36000 surgicals, 190 autopsies, 4000 non gyn cytologies and 7000 gyn cytologies. We have a medical staff of 11 physicians. The Cytology team consists in four cytotechnologists working 350% and two cytopathologists working 150%. As one cytotechnologist is leaving for a new vocation, we are looking for a cytotechnologist to cover his or her share of the 7000 gyn cytologies per year.

Our gyn cytology reporting is archived via an optical page reader, where the cytotechnologist indicates the findings via pencil mark on a sheet that includes all standard findings. Reports are thengenerated automatically. This sheet is kept in German, but a translation into English, French or Portuguese is easily feasible.

Aarau is located in the heartland of Switzerland. It is a small town with 17000 inhabitants but represents the political center of the canton of Argovia and serves the surrounding region with a population of 500'000 inhabitants. It lies between Zurich, Basel, Berne and Lucerne on the main railroads, so that these cities can be reached in about half an hour. The mountains are in reach of Aarau and form a splendid skyline to be viewed from the top of the hospital. Aarau is located in the valley of the river Aare which offers many recreational activities.

The ideal candidate would have an EU passport, a working knowledge of at least French or English and would be willing to come to Switzerland for 3 months or more. Shorter periods of stay can be arranged for outstanding candidates. Long term employment is an option we wouldbe very willingto consider.
