Ways to add interactivity to Smart Boards

1.  Move to Reveal

Change the color of the background of a slide.

Put a question on a Smart Notebook slide.

Type or write the answer

Use the shapes tool and draw a square or rectangle around the answer.

Fill the shape with the same color as the background of the slide thus hiding the answer.

Then you can move the shape to reveal the answer.

You can also add a picture from the gallery to hide the answers.

2.  Erase to show the answer

Change the color of the background of a slide.

Put a question on a Smart Notebook slide.

Type or write the answer

Using the pen tool, scribble over the answer with the same color as the background.

To reveal the answer, use the eraser and erase the scribble

3.  Magnifying glass to reveal the answer

Change the color of the background of a slide.

Put a question on a Smart Notebook slide.

Type or write the answer

Make the text color the same color as the background

Use the shape tool to make a shape

Fill the shape with the color white

Click on the shape with will put a dotted box around your shape

Click on the arrow pointing down in the top right corner on the dotted box

Click Order – Send to Back…this causes the text to appear over top of the white shape, thus revealing the answer.

4. Reveal by changing blending text color

Draw a box that fills half of the screen

Draw another box or clone the first one and move it beside the first box

Fill the right and left boxes to be different colors

Type your question on one side and put the answer on the same side.

Change the text of the answer to be the same as the background color.

Then to reveal, move the answer to the other box.

5.  Pull Tabs

Open a new slide

Click on the Gallery

Click on the + to expand “Lesson Activity Toolkit”

Click on Pull Tabs

Drag a pull tab from the gallery onto your slide

Put either text or a picture on your slide

Put the pull tab and the text or picture beside each other

Click on one then press and hold the control key and click on the other

They should both have a square around them

Click on one of the down arrows

Click on “Grouping”

Click Group

This makes the pull tab and other object (picture or text) one image that you can move together

Pin page (allows the first page to stay the same, but you can scroll through the other pages)
