Meeting called to order

Pledge ~ Welcome

  • Presidents message: running pretty smooth ,questions about science fair, info about grants
  • Richard Dominic: Evans principle being transferred to Vassar road, school adopted 23 families many groups came through for donations, students helped stuff his truck which went to Marc Bolgers stuff the bus., student readers with elderly great response seniors love it.
  • Superintendent’s report: search for replacement for principle Logging applicants so far about 117 people wanting the position George Husett will be interim principle. Beginning of budget process we will get through.

  • Evans PTA holiday shop and breakfast went very well
  • No board report.
  • Mrs.Walsh isn’t reporting anything right now it is fact finding to start.

  • Local Dutchess fair is April 8th fee is $25.00 @ Dutchess community College monetary awards, only single entries. We have been 1st in the senior level
  • Applications were handed out to 7th-12 Dec 22 A controlled study form has been handed out.Jan 14 completed application letters out. Feb 26 set up 8-830 judging from 9-11 viewing 11-12, presentation 1,2 3rd @ jj applications for regional . controlled study form 5TH AND 6TH March 12
  • What are our goals: increase awareness and excitement about science? Let children see the Rubric, what can we[district ]do traffic control, typing spreadsheets, Friday set up judges folders, print certificates… A meeting with the committee inviting some parents to talk about some issues and help..
  • Christine Crandel school business manager: fundraising pretty clear in district policy that it needs to be approved by district children can’t be put out to solicit. Can we look at grants, how the Bocees funding work. What can be used for such as students in need? District has gotten some monies in grants for certain sciences, Grants are available but really should have a goal or specific of what they are looking for.
  • Aid through Bocees can be billed through district PTA donates the fee to district then they pay it and following year a % can come back. Another chance to get sonic cards fee to organization and committee to charge for each. 1st approval for fundraising should be principle [controls andquestions the fundraiser], then to district office wants to know how much is expected and may have more questions
  • Request from Joe Torres wants to distribute fliers about baseball in the schools, has more card available for sonic and looking into Nathan's. He has also had help with the issue about the letters received about change of race from multicultural to a specific. He has had helped from the district in to trying to follow through. It comes from the census and many don’t think it will be changed but trying to. Parents who were asked about it some were not offended, some didn’t answer because they wereoffended.
