MINUTES FOR THE MARY FAITH RESCUE CENTER VISIT BY THE VOFCIN GROUP ON 7TH AUG 2016.

Location 1 – Jevanjee gardens.

Preliminaries

-  The members gathered at 12h00 and the chairman started the meeting with a word of prayer.

-  An introduction moment was given and members introduced themselves.

-  Some members contributed money as reflected on the financial report.

-  Anne Kiragu had brought sanitary towels for the center.

-  Clothes from Helen Mwaura were also handed over.

-  Other members had brought different items, e.g., clothes, shoes, etc, for donating to the home.

-  At 1pm, the Chairman adjourned the meeting at the Jevanjee Gardens the members present left together for Kawangware in the available vehicles. (Check more on this on the subsidiary report A).

Location 2 – The Mary Faith Rescue Center, Kawangware.

-  VOFCIN members arrived at 2pm at the center and were welcomed by the staff, led by the director, Mrs. Mary.

-  They joined The Kitchen Team who had arrived earlier to cook lunch for the center, (check subsidiary report note B)

-  As soon as everyone was settled, lunch was served by The Kitchen team who were assisted by other VOFCIN members.

-  After lunch, VOFCIN members helped in cleaning the dishes and helped in other chores at the center. We would like to thank all those who helped with any work at the center.

-  The members also viewed and verified the status of the mattresses delivered the day before by the chairman.

-  After the chores were done, VOFCIN members played games with the kids at the center and also interacted with them individually.

-  The Chairman with the help of Tr Susan helped to buy drinks, (Sodas, packed milk and Juices) and brought them back to the center.(Check more on this on the subsidiary report C)

-  Since the cereals shop was closed on the day of the visit (Sunday), it was decided and agreed that the cereals were to be bought the following day (Monday) and delivered to the home.

-  This had been agreed by the members during the previous WhatsApp meetings where they had agreed to primarily buy beddings for the center, then cereals, and then stationeries if money will be enough.

-  The chairman was also to liaise with Mrs. Mary so they know which stationeries to buy for the center. ( more on this on the subsidiary report D)

-  After the drinks, the children of The Mary Faith Rescue Center and the VOFCIN members were entertained by some of the VOFCIN members like Julius.

-  Mrs. Mary, the director of the home was invited by the Chairman, Paul Simon, to address the children and the VOFCIN Group.

-  The Chairman, Paul Simon, addressed the gathering later.

-  Mrs. Mary thanked the VOFCIN GROUP for visiting the home and for helping them in all the ways that they did.

-  After that, 2 cakes that had been prepared by Maggie Maina were served by her with the help of Mrs. Mary, the director and Paul Simon, the VOFCIN Chairman.

-  The cake was served first to everybody who had a birthday on the month of August, from the center and from the VOFCIN group.

-  After that, the VOFCIN group was taken to The Mary Faith Center School for a view of the school.

-  The VOFCIN visit ended at around 17h30 where members left at their own leisure.

Subsidiary report.

A)  We would like to thank all those who volunteered to offer their vehicles for use on that day and helped carry the VOFCIN members and the items donated. These are Anne Kiragu, Anne Njine, Maggie Maina and Ms Wangu. We would also like to thank Sarah Wanyoike for helping hire a van that helped carry members to the center.

B)  We would like to thank the Kitchen team comprised of Janet, Anne Njine, Loyce Gakuru, Lizzie Wanjiru, Wanjiru, Mariam, Muthoni Ireri, Thomas Nyamote and Sheila Mwangangi. The kitchen team gave their time and money to make sure that the children of The Mary Faith Rescue Centre and the VOFCIN members ate their fill that day.

C)  We would also like to thank Sarah Wanyoike for the purchase of drinks worth 8,000kshs that was taken by everyone attending the event and the children of The Mary Faith Center. Sarah bought 4 crates of soda, packed milks for the youngest at the home and mega juices that were left at the center.

D)  After the visit at the Mary Faith Rescue center, Mrs. Mary gave her primary stationery need as clipboards for the candidates, Geometry sets for the candidates. Since nothing else was needed at the home, the balance of cash was to be used on any other need at the home, the most pressing one being firewood which was given a fee of 10,000shs and a water bill of 2,500shs. Then there was a pharmaceutical bill of 10,800shs at the local chemist shop. This was later sent via Mpesa to the home after members topped up to fill the deficit.

E)  The post visit to The Mary Faith Rescue Center was later set for Aug 28th for the delivery of the stationeries.

MINUTES FOR THE MARY FAITH RESCUE CENTER POST VISIT BY THE VOFCIN GROUP ON 28TH AUG 2016.

Location 1 – Jevanjee Gardens

Preliminaries

-  The meeting commenced with a word of prayer from Paul Simon.

-  The chairman briefed the members present of the progress that VOFCIN Kenya has made at The Mary Faith Rescue Center.

-  Wangu brought a few pair of shoes for donations.

-  Maggie brought some cakes and drinks to take to the Center.

-  At 1pm, the members present left Jevanjee for Kawangware.

-  VOFCIN Kenya group received apologies from members while others were to join the group at the center.

Location 2 – Kawangware, at the Mary Faith Rescue Center.

-  On arrival, the team was welcomed by the kids and the management team of the Center led by the director, Mrs. Mary.

-  The team held a brief meeting in the sitting room of the Center where Mary gave a bit of history of the Center to the members.

-  After that, members present engaged the children of the center in motivational and inspirational group talks to relieve them of the traumas they have gone through in life.

-  After that, an entertainment session with the kids and the VOFCIN members took place which included songs, dances and storytelling.

-  After the engagement with the kids, the cakes and the juice brought by Maggie were served and the kids enjoyed the snacking.

-  The VOFCIN Team then presented the Geometry sets and the clipboards to the candidates.

-  After that, there was a photo session.

-  The VOFCIN Team also took time to re-visit the school where the children of the Center are schooled.

-  After the visit to the school, a brief meeting was held to discuss on what to do with the remaining balance.

-  Paul called upon the director of the Center, Mrs. Mary to give a list of what was really needed at the Center.

-  Mary gave the list of what was really needed at the Center as follows.

a)  firewood, (10,000kshs)

b)  Water bill, (2500)

c)  2 mattresses for the girls in boarding school

d)  2 Blankets for the same girls who are in boarding school.

(The girls lost their beddings in the fires that engulfed their dormitories after unrest at their school.)

-  Paul sent Mrs. Mary 12700shs to help clear the water bill and to buy firewood worth 10,000shs.

-  Pharmaceutical bills at the local chemist were to be confirmed also for clearance.

-  With no other business, Paul brought The Mary Faith VOFCIN Post Visit Event to an end and Mrs. Mary ended it with a vote of thanks and a word of prayer at 4:22pm.

Subsidiary Report

-  Mrs. Mary brought the two girls who didn’t have bedding the following Tuesday, 30th August as they returned to school and met with Paul who took them to Tuskys Commercial for the purchase of the beddings.

-  A total of 10,800shs was later confirmed as the balance of pharmaceuticals at the local chemist which was cleared.

-  We would like to thank the VOFCIN Outreach team which will be left on the ground to provide academical and counseling assistance to the center.

-  We would also like to thank VOFCIN USA led by Sarah Wanyoike which will be left on the ground to make long terms impact on the Center.

-  The VOFCIN Kenya project at The Mary Faith Rescue Center was marked complete.

-  The full financial report will be forwarded later.
