Overall purpose of volunteer role:
To provide valuable administration support to the Volunteer Development Team based in Diabetes UK’s Central Office in Camden, London. There will be a focus on the Diabetes UK Groups Review Implementation and Achievement Reportsdata entry, as well assome wider Reward and Recognition project work.
About theVolunteer DevelopmentTeam
The Volunteer Development Team supports all Diabetes UK volunteers around the country and develops new volunteering opportunities for the organisation. Diabetes UK has a wide range of volunteers involved in many different ways, including awareness raising, campaigning, helping at care events and volunteering in our offices, we also have a network of around 350 Voluntary Groups across the UK, all run by volunteers.
Main elements of volunteer role:
- Record and track data from voluntary group Annual Achievements Report document
- Assist with updating and producing Diabetes UK Groups materials along with the changes from the Groups Review process
- Manage the creation of volunteering thank – you cards
- Work alongside the Volunteer Development Team to respond to email, post and phone enquiries about volunteering at Diabetes UK
- Assist with volunteer development project work as opportunities arise
Timescales
We hope that you will be able to volunteer for:
- 1 day per week– although this can be negotiated depending on schedule and work available. Additional hours could be negotiated on an ad hoc basis by agreement with both parties and are available if requested
- Initially a 2 month period with the opportunity for extension. It will be reviewed after 6 weeks
- This role will be advertised for approximately 3 weeks with informal interviews being held in early March
What we are looking for:
- Someone with a passion for, and experience of, volunteering
- A confident and personable communicator, happy with telephone and face-to-face communications
- Someone able to commit to the agreed hours and provide reliable support
- An experienced and confident computer user, including working with computer databases (full training will be given on using Diabetes UK’s systems if needed)
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to learn new things quickly
- Good problem solving skills
- Someone reliable, trustworthy and able to work with sensitive/confidential information
- Good organisational and time management skills

Intellectual Property
The work you do for us is important to us and we value the rights that may exist in any work which you undertake. In some cases, it may be vital that we own and can prove we own such rights. Accordingly, we may ask you to complete, sign and return a separate assignment of such rights.
The purpose of this role description is to set out the expectations of both parties. It is not the intention of either party that the volunteering has the purpose or effect of creating a legally binding contract or an employment relationship between parties.
