MINUTES - Quota Business Meeting July11, 2011

(There was no Board Meeting due to no quorum being present)

The Business Meeting was called to order by President Carol at 7:05 PM. The June minutes were corrected to our guest's name being Rita Collister not Foster.

The Treasurers report was read by Treasurer, Dolores outlining income and expenses with a balance of $77,622.63. There were no questions and the report will be filed for audit.

Ways and Means Chair, Jackieproposed that we make a service calendar to be ready by 2013, which was tabled for further discussion. She also suggests a possibly having a tea at someone’s home with each member bringing a 'goodie'. This was also tabled for further pondering. Also, for a fellowship get together she suggested a movie.

Service Chair, Carol Zeber reported that we will continue to have a Christmas party at Tamarac Elementary with Ellie in charge as usual, continue poster contest with Dolores in charge. For the migrant workers back packs will be made up with items such as shoes, socks, and school supplies. The club will continue giving to Girl Scout Camperships, the Kards for Kids, scholarships, disaster relief (our own country), Sound Beginnings Centerfor Hearing and Speech to keep giving hearing aids, the junior group, the Peeps will take some bears to children with cancer, 20 bears were taken to the migrant workers. In lieu of Providence Place we will give boxes to Hope Center of S. Florida. Sheila will find out what we can do for them.

At this point Sheila presented the club with a check for $1,000 from the RotaryClub to be used for children'sservices. Secretary, Anamarie will send them a thank you letter. The meeting was adjourned at 9:20 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Anamarie Baker

Secretary

Quota International President's Message - July 11, 2011

Dear Fellow Quotarians,

This past weekend, I was very proud to have been installed as Quota International’s 2011-2012 President at a ceremony held in Washington, D.C., U.S.A. I wish to thank 2010-2011 President Gwenn Jackson for her effective leadership of our organization this past year. During her tenure, Quota International began Creating the Quota of Tomorrow and “delivering possibilities” all over the globe.

Since then much has been accomplished, but there is still much to do. We are entering an exciting phase that includes looking at the whole organization strategically into the future. Therefore, in the year ahead, we will be taking a closer look at our structure, our finances, our service obligations, and our meetings at club, district, area, and international board levels. Doing so will ensure a lasting legacy for our current members and a Quota future for generations to come.

I have been excited in the past year to see an increase in the number of new clubs and branches organized and to glean information from younger people from the listening tours. My profession as a physician involves lots of listening, and I am good at it (!), but it is time to apply what we have learned and to have the courage to change what is not working well. Having seen firsthand our Club-to-Club projects and what we can achieve in the face of seemingly overwhelming problems―huge populations with abject poverty; poor sanitation and nutrition; widespread illiteracy; child and elder neglect; government indifference―particularly to the speech impaired and hard of hearing―I know withcourage and determination we do make a difference. We have influenced governments for good. We Quotarians change lives by our “can do” attitude, starting small and increasing our sphere of influence locally and globally. Through Quota we are giving life and hope to many.

The world needs our brand of sharing and caring, more today than ever before. Think of the people we have helped, the lives we have changed, the hurts we have helped heal simply because we care together at home and around the world. It is time to ensure that this wonderful organization remains strong into the future, so that next time and all the future times we are asked to help in whatever capacity, locally or globally, we can say, “Through Quota We Can!” That is my theme for this year because I know that through Quota and for Quota we can achieve anything!

Yours in Quota,

Chris Tracey-Patte

2011-2012 International President

Sheila Morris proudly holds a $1,000 donation received from Rotary of Fort Lauderdale to be used for our service projects this year. Our club was surprised, delighted and very thankful!
