I’m getting my Master’s Degree in May of 2009. What do I need to do to have my salary adjusted and when does the adjustment take place?

I graduated with a Bachelors degree in 2006. Since then, I’ve taken a combination of undergraduate and graduate classes and have earned 15 credits. Am I eligible for the Bachelors + 15 salary column?

I think I have enough credits to qualify for a Masters Equivalency Certificate. What should I do now?

The following is an excerpt from Board Policy 433 - CONTINUING EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL GROWTH GUIDELINES

4. Credits for degree level adjustments on the salary schedule must be completed before the beginning of the school term to be effective for that school term. Salary adjustment will be made upon the receipt in the Personnel office of official transcripts documenting the additional credits, degree, or certificate (if Master's Equivalency) and a written request from the employee for salary advancement to a particular salary level. This documentation/certificate and request must be received prior to January 1 of each year unless, in the opinion of the Superintendent, there are extenuating circumstances which require an extension. Any request for an extension should be made in writing to the Superintendent.

Salary adjustment will be made retroactive to the beginning of the school term. For those individuals who complete the required credits for salary change during the school term, the adjustment of the salary level will occur at the beginning of the next school term upon receipt of proper documentation as indicated above.
