The February Members Monthly Meeting represents an ideal opportunity for you to come along and try out this session before the meeting.

Tennent’s Scottish Cup Fourth Round

Congratulations to Stuart Macaulay on his appointment to the Falkirk v Ross County tie to be played on Saturday 4th February.

OVD Scottish Junior Cup

Congratulations to the following members who have been appointed to the Kirkcaldy YMCA v Petershill Fifth Round tie which is to be played on 11th February. Referee William Gilfillan. Assistant Referees Ricky Smith and Douglas Potter.

Re-allocation

If you are available and are looking for a game on a Saturday or Sunday then please contact Kay Rogerson with your availability. There have been a number of Saturdays this year when Amateur games have been postponed due to a lack of referees so the chances are that if you put your name down then you will get a game.

Application of the Laws of the Game

The attention of All members is drawn to Law 5 Powers and Duties of the Referee bullet point 8. If a player in a match that you are refereeing receives treatment then you must ensure that the player leaves the field of play after his injury has been assessed by the physio / doctor and not allow the player to come back on to the field of play until after the match has restarted. You are reminded that if the player has left with a blood injury then he should only return at a stoppage in play after you have satisfied yourself that the bleeding has stopped.

60th Anniversary Dinner

This will take place on Saturday 25th March 2006 at 7 for 7.30pm at Pettycur Bay, Kinghorn. Willie Young former FIFA Referee and Jim Robertson, Area Procurator Fiscal at Kirkcaldy will be the speakers. Tickets priced £30 are now available. Please advise the Secretary of your requirements ASAP.

Meeting of Category 1 Referees January 2006

Andy Hunter and Colin Brown attended this event at Airth Castle Hotel. Both days started with an 8.20am training session. Following a full group discussion we were divided in to groups with our respective coaches and a discussion on various scenarios and incidents ensued. A full group discussion with the reports of the individual groups brought the event to a close.

Fife and the Future

Fife and The Future continue to hold their monthly meetings prior to the Council Meeting.

Fife and The Future was established to look at meeting the challenges that the Association faces in the coming years. The aim is to ensure that we continue to recruit, retain and develop outstanding referees for all levels of football. Many areas come under its remit for consideration including Recruitment, Retention, Training, Monthly Meetings etc.

The focus is currently on Recruitment as it is felt this is a high-priority area and a sub-Group of Tommy Matthew, Andrew Aird and Lorraine Clark have been looking at areas to take forward. From this a presentation is being developed which will be made to FRAE (Fife Racial Awareness and Equality), who have some people interested, on 27th February 2006. This presentation will then be adapted for use in other areas e.g. at Senior Clubs. Members are also looking at other areas to explore; recruitment material etc and you will be advised of developments.

We are unable to undertake other concurrent pieces of work because of a lack of numbers. Many of the people who have put themselves forward perform other roles in the Association. Can you help? We only ask that people do what they can. A little work from a lot of people = a lot of work! If you wish to be involved, please contact Kevin Martin.

The next meeting is on Wednesday 1st March 2006 at 7pm in New Bayview Stadium, Methil. Meetings last no longer than 1 hour!

Newsletter / Website

The Newsletter and Website are both valuable information tools for the Association. However there is a frustrating lack of news being sent to the Newsletter Editor and Webmaster. It is impossible to believe that we are all so boring that we have nothing newsworthy happening in our lives either as a referee or outside refereeing to report!

The website is a very important tool in recruiting referees and it helps that when people visit the site that they find new articles and information.
