UVa Law SBA: New Student Organization Recognition Form

The SBA is excited at the prospect of welcoming new student organizations to the UVa law school community. However, it is the policy of the SBA to only issue formal recognition to those organizations with a concrete vision and purpose that is distinct from other student organizations. Organizations must agree to abide by the University’s Non-Discrimination policy and policy against hazing. Additionally, before receiving formal SBA recognition, potential student organization representatives must demonstrate that they have thought about the organization’s short and long-term goals, as well as what events they hope to plan and/or participate in. To this end, please complete this form and submit it, along with your organization’s constitution, to the SBA Secretary. Please consult SBA’s constitution template before submitting your materials to ensure your constitution includes the requisite information. This template is available by request from the SBA Secretary. Please note that organizations are required to maintain active status, as defined in SBA Bylaws Article X (Section 4) and to submit an annual transition plan, as described in SBA Bylaws Article VIII (Section 5) by the deadline prescribed by the transition email sent by the SBA President each spring.
