Application form for field work sponsorship from the Ussher Society

A Fieldwork Research Fund has been established to make small grants (normally a maximum of £500) for new or younger researchers to support fieldwork, survey or museum research visits that are relevant to the Geosciences in South-West England, but not for visits to laboratories or for laboratory analyses. Applicants must be registered, at a UK University, for either an undergraduate or taught postgraduate degree, or for a research degree which is largely self-funded.

A field work scholarship up to the value of £500 is available to successful candidates. Successful candidates will be expected to offer either a talk or a poster for presentation at the earliest Ussher Society Annual Conference which follows the submission of their completed project. If their abstract is accepted, they will be entitled to apply for a further bursary to attend the conference; this typically covers some or all accommodation costs, the conference fee, and a contribution towards travel costs.

There is also the possibility of publishing your contribution in 'Geoscience in South West England', subject to reviewer approval of your manuscript.

Please complete all of the fields below, and return the form to:
no later than 31stMay 2017. Applications will be acknowledged, and notification of the results will take place by 20th June 2017.
